Bert's Custom Tackle Planer Board Mast Systems

Customize your planer system to meet your exact needs without spending a fortune for extra items that you'll never use. The Planer Board Mast System gives you the ability to run your lines out up to 150 feet away from the boat for superior coverage of the water with each trolling pass. The masts are crafted of anodized aluminum and each mast is supported by a 1/2" thick heavy-duty aluminum base that slides into a Bert's Track for fast mounting and easy removal when it's time to pack up for the day. The large-diameter reels wind in 1-1/2 feet of line with every revolution and easily adjust up and down on the mast. The built-in adjustable clutch and brake system keep tension on the line as you pay it out to prevent tangles. Track not included.

  • Mast Extensions with Connection Joint can be added to your mast for additional height. 3-foot extensions, 1-foot extensions (not shown)

    Rail mount needs alterations.
    Date:
The rail mount line line guide is not set up to feed the planer board line out to the side of the boat and needs to be altered. Also, the guide eye is not a completely closed and welded eye and the line can catch and chafe in the small opening. After these alterations, it works perfectly.

planer board reel for rail mount
    Date:
Mount was sturdy, but not versitile enough for application on various tubing sizes. Clutch insufficient for the stress of jumping planner boards, and tended to slip out more line. However jumping planner boards do pull significantly more than others. Over all construction of the reel is simple, effecient and of quality workmanship.

    Bert's mast system
    Date:
Bert's planer board mast system is very easy to install and very nice to use. We used it extensively on Lake Erie for walleye, using big 30" planer boards. The system held our boards right where we set them even in the roughest water.
Also, the boards were easy to retrieve when we were done for the day. I would highly recommend the Bert planer board mast system for trouble free trolling.
