Pietta Model 1861 Navy .36 Cal Revolver with Starter Kit
The immediate successor to Colt’s Model 1860, incorporating many features of the Model 1851, the 1861 was balanced for superior handling. A robust replica, this version sports a color case-hardened frame, an 8" blued barrel, cylinder with engraved naval battle scene and walnut grips. Starter Kit includes: nipple wrench, powder measure, 2-oz. bottle of Cabela’s Black Powder Pistol Lube, a powder flask, 30 lead roundballs, and 30 felt powder wads. Barrel length: 8". Overall length: 14". Weight: 2 lbs. 11 oz.
This is a well-made, strong shooter. Initially, it had a slightly stiff action, but has loosened up considerably with a little use. I also noted some rather sharp edges on machined surfaces, but was able to blunt these with a small sharpening stone. The pistol shoots well and I definately like the "streamlined" curves.
