One of the most popular cap-and-ball pistols ever made, this revolver was a mainstay in the Civil War and the weapon of choice of Texas gunfighter John Wesley Hardin and other gunmen. This replica 1860 Army Revolver, .44-caliber boasts a color case-hardened frame, loading lever and hammer. There’s also a naval battle scene on the cylinder. Barrel length: 8". Overall length: 14". Weight: 2 lbs., 11 oz.
My Pietta 1860 arrived with a beautiful dark charcoal color case hardened finish. The fit and finish on the wood and metal was perfect; but what really surprised me, was a smooth 2 pound 13.8 oz trigger pull, a 0.005 inch cylinder gap and timing which dropped the bolt on the acorn 1/8 inch before the cylinder notch (meaning there would be no cylinder ring rub marks). The 1860 Army has always been my favorite civil war handgun due its balance and flowing lines. The one I received from Cabela's exceeded my expectations.
Picked up the gun on Saturday. The next day was Easter Sunday. I took my 14 year old nephew Justin with me. I got off two shots, he did the rest - about another 40. We both thought it was a well made firearm and he wants one too.
Nice fit & finish with good case colors. Handles very well with good balance. It will need a little sight adjustment because it does shoot a little high & to the left which is not unusual. I would buy one again in a heartbeat.
