Pietta Model 1858 New Army Stainless Steel .44 Caliber Revolver
Exactly like the .44-caliber New Army 1858, but this model is made from rigid, tough and easy-to- maintain stainless steel with a brass trigger guard. Barrel length: 8". Overall length: 14". Weight: 2 lbs., 11 oz.
The fit & finish on this revolver were excellent as received. Accuracy is very reasonable for this type of firearm. Shot with BP, Pyrodex, and 777 powders. Biggest advantage of the Stainless Steel construction is, of course, the ease with which the firearm can be cleaned after use. Though commanding a somewhat higher price than the blued steel design of the same type, I believe that the difference is justified and worthwhile. However, if you're seeking the best possible accuracy, choose the SS target model (which has better sights) instead.
this was bought as a gift, when I received this revolver I was very impressed with the quality of this gun. If you are into blackpowder guns you will not go wrong with this revolver.
I now have three 1858's I bought from Cabela's. Stainless/Blued/Brass. These guns are in my opinion top of the line for my needs. Accurate as heck and built just as good as any cartridge handgun on the market. And with the price of factory ammo today,,,Black Powder is now my choice for shooting. Like everything else today there is the greed factor that forces some of us to change our ways. The 1858 Stainless looks just as impressive in my hand as any cartridge handgun I can think of. And I bought three 1858's for the price of one centerfire handgun,,,which is a no brainer. Thanks Cabela's for the great price on these guns as well. I do shop around before any purchase and yours is it,,,period.
