Pietta Model 1851 Navy .36 Caliber Revolver with Starter Kit
The original 1851 "Yank" revolver was as much a part of the trail to the West as the Americans who traveled it. Wild Bill Hickok even carried a pair with ivory grips during his lawman days in Abilene. Brass backstrap and trigger guard. Octagonal barrel. Walnut grips. Starter Kit includes: nipple wrench, powder measure, 2-oz. bottle of Cabela’s Black Powder Pistol Lube, a powder flask, 30 lead roundballs, and 30 felt powder wads. Barrel length: 7-1/2". Overall length: 13-1/2". Weight: 2 lbs. 9-oz.
This is the best buy anywhere, for a black powder revolver. The fit a finish is excellent! The timing on the revolver is perfect. It shoots very good. The color case harding is awesome. The only complant is the starter kit. Save your money and buy some quality accessories such as the powder flask. But other than that, it is a great buy!!!!!!!!!!
I just received this Colt copy (made by Pietta) yesterday and I am, generally, happy with it. The revolver appears to be a tight, well manufactured piece. The grips are a dark wood and nicely fitted. The blueing was a deep even color. The only issue I have with the revolver is the color case harding on the frame. It appears to have been a spray or liquid rather than real case hardening and there seem to have been bubbles in the application which left an unappealing pattern in the finish. The loading lever looks to have been cast, and there are also fine surface pits on it.
The starter kit is nice but I didn't care for the plastic power horn. The rubber stopper looks as though it will loosen over time and the spout is really too big to pour powder into the measurer. The measurer, capper and nipple wrench look good but the entire value of the starter kit may not be worth the additional cost to the revolver.
Very nice pistol. Well finished in all areas. The execution of this pistol is more than I expected. The staff is extremely professional and learned. I have purchased a second pistol to give to my best friend as a gift. I am well pleased with Cabela's
