The original 1851 "Yank" revolver was as much a part of the trail to the West as the Americans who traveled it. Wild Bill Hickok even carried a pair with ivory grips on the trail and during his lawman days in Abilene. Brass backstrap and trigger guard. Steel frame with case color hardened finish. 7-1/2" Octagonal barrel. Walnut grips. Barrel length: 7-1/2". Overall length: 13-1/2" Weight: 2 lbs. 9 oz.
I've always loved the .36 Navy colt revolver. I used to own an uberti 1851 navy but I love the pietta 1851 navy colt .36 revolver i bought from cabela's in august 2011 way better. The way the cylinder spins so freely on half cock, the way the loading lever is on it, it's a very accurate and very beautiful piece. I can hit the bottom end of a pop can turned on it's side facing me at 20 yards consistently with it. I also bought a 15" cabela's heavy canvas pistol case for it. I heartily recommend buying both the pistol and that case
I have now purchased two of these beautiful Colt 1851 Navy black powder revolvers from Cabela's and they are superb. Fit and finish are excellent, as well as functionality.
