Lost 3500$ guns and valuables in this safe
Date:
I actually liked this "safe" until it was broken into while I was not home.
I came home and found the safe, pried open with a simple flathead screwdriver which was lying next to the safe. My Sig Sauer P229 was gone. You can see in the inside of the safe door that the box housing the deadbolts simply pried away from the front door. I will refer to the companies website that says exactly this: "Solid steel, pry resistant door has concealed hinges and 2 steel live action locking bolts." Pry resistant? A simple cheap flathead screwdriver defeated this so called safe.
Don't make the same mistake I did. This safe is no more secure than a cardboard box to an adult with a screwdriver.

Total piece of JUNK
Date:
I purchased this last fall. I looked over several gun safes where I could have easy access to my handgun. This seemed to fit the bill. Unfortunately the unit I purchased had a malfunctioning keypad that would not unlock the safe. Last night, the replacement Stack-On sent me broke. The dial you turn to unlock the safe, well the mechanism on the inside just fell apart. I couldn't unlock the safe to get anything out. I had to turn it on the side then smack it with my hand and lucky the locking mechanism disengaged. If it hadn't not sure how I would have retrieved my valuables let alone got my weapon out in case of an emergency.
Two stars but only for the quick replacement of the first item, not bothering to call Stack-On back for another replacement.

Piece on hand... Peace of mind.
Date:
Easy to mount and use. Comes with a metal shelf with padding on the shelves. Good for storing handguns, ammo and other personal items. There is a key that can be used as an override in case you forget your combo, or if the batteries go dead. A plastic cover hides the key hole, and is something that is used when you set up the combinstaion (also very easy to do. It's secures easily to my dresser with the included bolts - and now I don't have to worry about any nosie nelly's what want to go through Dad's sock drawer ;)

Great Buy
Date:
Great price - has metal shelf with padding on both shelves. Good for storing ammo or handguns. The advantage of this safe over others is that the "beep" can be disabled easily by entering a code. Only negative is the cheap plastic cover for the key. The key is used as an override in case you forget your combo or in the event that the batteries go dead. This plastic cover will definitely break after 3 or 4 times of removing it.
