Where were they 17 years ago?
Date:
I have had my boat since 1991 and have worn out (salt corrosion probably didn't help) two sets of pedestals before getting these. Even when the standard ones were new they would tend to "creep" down in rough/choppy conditions which would leave my tired old knees bent well beyond the comfortable range. The new Class A Locking Power Pedestals have been terrific, just enough compression to absorb shock but after every wave they return to the original set height, no more having to pull myself up with the steering wheel to re-extend the pedestal and try to save my knees. Time will tell how long they stand up but even if they only last a couple seasons I wil but them again to avoid the knee pain.

Did they get smaller?
Date:
My Springfield Power Pedistal I used in the drivers position finally gave out after 14 years. It was on a 1994 LUND. It is larger in diameter than the new one We'll see how it holds up on Erie.

Seems to be a nice product, i have had no trouble with the pedestal although I have not allowed it to endure any weather at this point. I have no complaints. Nice product.
