    Tapered pedestal ends
    Date:
I have a small duck boat so I ordered the 9" pedestals thinking that if they were too tall I could cut the post down and I would have a shorter seat. Not so. First I tried cutting 3" off the bottom of the post. I made sure not to warp the post when I cut it. Still a perfect circle, but it didn't fit. My only guess is that the post is tapered at the bottom. First post garbage. Then on the second seat I tried to cut the top of the post off instead. Went to put it back in the seat base, tapered too. But at least this time I could force it in. The only thing is the seat is very hard to swivel now. Other than that, the quality is very good and when not altered the Springfield Keyed Plug-in Pedestal works great.

    Adjustable pedestal
    Date:
I bought the adjustable pedestal for my Alumacraft Navigator because I needed the extra height to control my trolling motor better. This pedestal provides ample height so I sit high enough, I'm 6'2" and this pedestal has enough travel to accomodate me. The pedestal comes with a seat base so no worries about attaching it to your existing seat.

    springfield keyed plug in pedestal
    Date:
Purchased these for my 1860 Jon boat. I set up the boat so I could move pedestals around for duck hunting or fishing. Easy install. Only disappointment is they don't come with screws for mounting. I went and purchased some stainless steel screws for install.
