This power pedestal gives you an air cushion ride and lets you adjust the height by the touch of the control lever (base not included). Available: 13-1/2" to 20" Standard Air Ride, 22-1/2" to 29-1/2" Pro-Style Stand-Up Air Ride.
My new boat came with three seats with 12 inch pedestals, fine for running to and from a fishing spot, but way too low for fishing and operating the trolling motor foot pedal. I ordered from another supplier who said it was in stock but after ten days I called and they admitted it was out of stock, well, I corrected my mistake and went online to Cabela's, and in FOUR days my Springfield Plug-in Air Ride 22.5 to 29.5" pedestal was in my hands, I have used it twice since, and it is the smoothest, steadiest pedestal ever...I'm very happy with the product, AND the SERVICE
This pedestal came as an "upgrade" on my new boat. The first issue was that the pedestal would not stay in the "up" or "extended" position. You could start out there but within a few seconds it would bleed off and drop down to its lowest position; not desirable for my height. The next issue is that dispite how this pedestal is marketed, it is NOT much of an air-cushioned ride as the piston "bottoms out" in rough water giving you the spine crushing ride of a fixed pedestal. To make it work as marketed, it needs to have a gas piston that, after the height is adjusted, can travel up and down at least 4 or 5 inches and NEVER bottom out.
AFTER INSTALLING THE AIR RIDE PEDESTAL I WENT FISHING ON THE GULF OF MEXICO, AND AFTER TWO TRIPS THE TOP BUSHING WAS WORN BAD ENOUGH TO MAKE THE SET WOBBLY. UNLESS THE TOP BUSHING IS CHANGED TO ANOTHER MORE WEAR RESISTANT METERAL I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT.
Had a problem with the original base plastic center breaking. I purchased newly designed bases and the air ride pedestals. I've taken my brothers fishing on SF bay and had no problems on two trips. My brothers are both 6'4" and 300 + lbs. The extra pedestal height and air ride feature made it an enjoyable trip for all.
