For the most part I'm always satisfied with cabelas. But I do have some problems with them lately. First this product (as well as many others) is listed at a sale price online, but after heading to my local cabelas store I found it to be at full price. On top of that I get it home to find that the treads that the wing nuts travel on are blasted full of paint and are totally locked up. This means I will have to disassemble the rig and wire brush all the treads. After I'm done it should function as I planed. It's a simple design so I expected the product to be "good to go", however I'm left with the impression of a poorly manufactured product.
After purchasing my new fishing boat, I wanted to put seats in it and with not a big selection of clamps in the market, this is as good as it gets...Aftering reading the reviews I purchased 4... a couple of you guys gave me some really good ideas, especially Fishmaster 123, Thxz!! :D..I first sawed off a few inches from the screws they do stick out quiet a bit, it will definitly do some damage, and then topped them off with the rubber tops from the door stoppers, sold seperately at your local hardware store...I purchased the small one and had to hammer them on with a malot..wish I got the bigs one but there on there for good!! I also purchased a 1/2 PVC pipe and cut it in half and was able to make 2 Wingnut wrenches, just cut a slot across the top with a hand saw..they worked perfectly and because the nuts do not tighten, I used Teflon pipe thread put that the screw and it tighten with no problem 8 hours on the boat swivled back and forth, in my new high back chairs with no problem at all..ooh I will mention that the rubber does peel off abit..right now its not a big deal, but maybe some electrical tape?? IDK ...so bottom line if your willing to put in a lil time to work out the kinks to your needs....for the price it's a good product, the company just needs to improve it...Happy Fishing!!
No room to tighten. I f you plan to sit sideways (as in driving a tiller or hunting out of duck boat) they will never hold the seat down. seats are just as good without them.
