I bought this for use as my primary pack for weekend treks and week-long stints at summer camp with the Boy Scouts. It has become my go-to pack for just about everything.
The pack is typical Kelty quality, rugged and durable. The zippers move freely and the straps are rock solid.
The frame sheet is removable as well as a few other straps and cords, so if you're going the lightweight/ UL route, you can strip this down for significant weight savings without having to cut straps off. Just throw it back in and you're ready for serious support.
The only downsides I have found really are just me being grumpy in my old age. The buckles for the lid SEEM light and flimsy, although they have been stepped on and not broken. I just feel they're not as meaty as the ones on other Kelty packs I own. The only other gripe is the hip belt is a bit thin and has no pockets. There's ample padding for up to about 50 lbs, but it's just not like the other models. I've carried 38 lbs for 4 days with it and had no issues. I guess I'm used to overkill.
Overall, it's definitely a capable pack that will last you many years with good support and probably outlast your other gear. You won't be disappointed with it!
