I ordered and used this system on a 6 day elk hunt in the Pecos wilderness. The big bags cinch down nicely and were used for carrying bulky items including clothes, sleeping bag, game backs, etc. I used the front bags during the hunt for equipment, lunch, etc. I removed the liners for extra storage room thus can not comment on them, but the bags are tough and dependable. Another great thing is that two sets carried enough bulky gear to eliminate a pack horse. Be careful though not to over load your horse.
I used these saddle bags on an elk hunt in Colorado last month and they worked great. They kept my gear mostly dry and they also stayed in place on my horse fairly well. The only complaint I have is that after a week of rain and snow, some of the bags that got the wettest were no longer keeping my gear really dry. I should have thoroughly waterproofed the bags before my trip. I will do that before the next trip. I also really like the removable insulated pads. They worked great at keeping my drinks cold on some trail rides in the Texas heat over the summer!
I recommend this as it held up to all the tree rubbing our horses could throw at it. had them filled with lightweight stuff and the description of the product is accurate. I am confident it will continue to hold up to punishment.
