Burris Fast Fire Kimber Mount,October 22, 2009

"The mount was purchased for a Kimber Super Target 22 cal. handgun. I purchased the Fast Fire Sight which came with a mount to fit the Weaver Base. I first mounted it on a Smith & Wesson model 41 which had a weaver base before I decided to switch to my Kimber. This required the purchase of a Kimber Mount which I had installed by a local gunsmith, not wanting to take a chance of marking my custom handgun. The mount was installed by the gunsmith who said it was a simple task once the rear sight was removed.
Today at the Sportsman's Club was my first chance to try out the sight and to check for any movement of the mount from the slide travel. I was able to fire only 25 rounds due to a prior appointment. During shooting I checked the mount for movement and it appears as solid as when installed by the gunsmith. The shot grouping added to the fact there was no movement.
I rechecked the mount upon cleaning of the firearm later that evening and it appears to be rock solid. I would be very surprised this would change with additional rounds.
Once you pass 50 the eyes leave much to be desired when using iron sights and the majority of my handguns are scoped or electronic dot. After testing the Kimber Mount I now plan on purchasing another Burris Fast Fire along with the Kimber Mount for my 45 acp Grand Raptor II from Cabela's. I would hope to be able to also give that a five star rating."

"I had file the mount down to fit the dovetail on my Glock 20. After managing to punch that in place, I found that the mounting screws stripped the threads in the mount with only slight pressure. So I paid for a mount I can't even use. POOR quality!"

"I had some problems with the base mount, it was dificult to put on in which caused me to make some adjustments. After mounting the sight to my Glock 19 I discovered another problem, every time I fire my weapon the recoil causes the switch on the sight to turn off."
