Ascent Pants,October 20, 2009
By JasMDfrom Cheyenne WY
"I like these pants and the freedom of movement. Hiking and climbing a treestand, usually I get unwanted binding, but not with these pants. I wore Cabelas BaseSlayers underneath, and didn't have any problems with the usual discomfort when taking long steps. The fabric seems thin, so I'm not sure how well they'll hold up to a lot of abrasive crawling/hiking.
I'm definitely glad they come in a Tall size; I wear a 34" inseam and these fit perfectly.
My only caution - North Dakota mosquitos can get right through these, even with BaseSlayers on underneath! Wish I'd brought my Thermacell that night."

Active Hunting Pant,October 11, 2009
By HuntFishPlayfrom Basalt, Colorado
"If you spend the majority of your day chasing elk, deer or sheep in 35+ degrees, this is your breathable pants. After 4+ hours of climbing in mid 30s - 40s these pants were still dry with a light base layer underneath. They do not retain heat, so if you are sitting on a stand and temps less than 40 F., you may need a heavy base layer or pull out the wool pants. Pros - Light, stretch, no burrs, breath great. Cons - Not for heat retention or sub-freezing temps, unless hiking hard."

Best pants I have ever hunted in!!!!!,February 23, 2009
By DesertDonfrom Arizona
"I have no idea about some of the other reviews are talking about with noise and durability. I bought a pair of these this fall and they are incredible! Very quiet for bowhunting up close and surprisingly durable. I hunt in southern Arizona where rock and cactus is the norm and these pants still look like new after putting them through the grinder this season. I love them and will be buying another pair before this fall."

Sitka Ascent Pants Great Concept But Start Over,September 29, 2008
By RobFromAlbertafrom Hinton
"Purchased the Sitka Ascent pants for my annual 12 day elk hunt here in Alberta. Simply put, they did not stand up to the challenge, PERIOD. The country I hunt in is mountainous. Timber is a spruce, pine and aspen mix on the edge of the Rocky Mountains (Colorado/Montana-ish). My days afield start at about 5:30 a.m. bugling cow calling and running up and down ravines chasing elk and other critters until noon, I return to camp for a nap, eat and go hard for the last two or three hours of light in the evening. SITKA! What I really liked about this product was that you could lift your leg high without the material binding or restricting the placement of your foot when stepping over a downed tree or stretching to reach that one higher than normal tree stand step. BRAVO! Other manufacturers take notice! Furthermore the pockets on the front and sides are perfectly placed and not too deep, the suspenders (shown in the photo) have a rubber strip on the inside helping them stay up on your shoulders. The waist band also has the rubber strip and helps keep your shirt tucked in. On the inside ankle of each leg the pants are reinforced with extra material and each pant has a rubber shock cord drawstring at the pant cuff so you can cinch them tight and be extra "sneaky". NOW FOR THE BAD NEWS: the material used in these pants is too thin. You have to wear long underwear in temps below about 8 degrees Celsius or you freeze your twig and berries off. While not the loudest pants I have ever worn hunting, they are not the quietest (sounds kind of like you are wearing a pair of rain pants undearneath a pair of 100% cotton pants). So noisy in fact that I had a hard time sneaking the last 10 yards to get into bow range on a 5 x 5 elk. MOST OF ALL,...these pants are not durable! The hem in the crotch and on one knee had separated considerably by the end of the third morning. The tab used to attach the suspender to the waistband had only used one row of stiching (not reinforced), as a result the suspenders pulled out of the pant waist band and had to be abandoned by the third morning. The rubber shock cord in one pant leg gave out on the fourth morning (not properly sewn in). By the start of the fifth day of my hunt I was back wearing the old stand by Microtex. SITKA - Great concept but use heavier material, and reinforce high stress points and and I will get my wallet out again to try them P.S., I have posted many reviews on products that I have purchased through Cabela's and this is my first review below four stars. I take my gear recommendations to fellow sporstmen/persons very seriously!"

Great all around pant,September 28, 2008
By n828bcfrom SW Mississippi
"I used the initial version of this pant for my Dall hunt in AK last year, and they were just OK. . .dried well but not well constructed. This new version of the stretch meterial, updated construction I took to the Yukon for Stone sheep and moose early September this year. I never felt the need for anything heavier when used with the baselayer bottoms, and they withstood the CONSTANT abrasion of the willows, birch, and alders without any sign of wear. My only mention would be for taller men. I am 5'10", and the tall version is just long enough for me. Plenty of pockets. I do not know what the prior commentary was about. I never have noted any noise problem. Maybe he used the wrong base layer."

Nice pant...unless you want to be quiet!,September 14, 2008
By AkHobiefrom Alaska
"I would have to say that I would have to agree with the previous reviews I have read on here except for one thing. The inside of the pant is lined with a coating that makes a lot of noise. I am pretty picky about this with hunting clothes and so I try all the latest and greatest clothes looking for the quietest. I archery hunt moose in Alaska and Elk in Colorado so it is important to me. These pants are exceptionally noisy when worn with Scent-Loc bottoms. I have worn these twice elk hunting and have ended up switching back to my Cabela’s Legacy Fleece pants. If you are concerned with sound and stalk wary animals, you are better off spending your money on fleece or Micro-tex. If being quiet is not a big deal to you than you will probably love these pants. I will be returning mine and trying the 90% pant. I have the 90% jacket. I like the jacket and do not have the same problem with noise."

Worth every penny,August 15, 2008
By WaryBuckfrom Fremont, NE
"I wore these dozens of times during the '07 season and they show almost no wear whatsoever. The material stretches which makes climbing (hills/trees) a piece of cake; there is no binding in the thighs or knees to hinder your stride. I noticed this right off the bat when walking out after long outings. And they don't pick up burrs (and I live in an area with sticktites, beggar's lice, sandburrs, cockleburrs, foxtail, etc.). Another key feature is how it will "walk dry." In other words, if you wade a stream, or go through dew-soaked weeds or grass, within minutes the pants will be dry simply from the heat generated by walking or by evaporation. The silicone strip that keeps your shirt tucked in is a very nice extra that I also appreciated immediately. And you have to see the Mountain Mimicry pattern in the field to realize how versatile it is. I bought a second pair of these pants because I liked the first pair so much...but the second pair is still in the wrapper as the first set still looks new despite a hard season of use. I can see a pair of these pants easily lasting 10, 15 or more years."

Great pants,August 14, 2008
By NateT
"These are the best hunting pants I've ever worn for active hunting. The fit is exactly the way it should be and corrects my biggest complaint about hunting pants prior to Sitka. No saggy crotch and baggy legs! They are trim and sleek, quiet, durable, and the 4 way stretch fabric moves with you so they are unrestrictive and comfortable. A perfect hunting pant!"

"Great pants for early season hunting. They dry extremly fast and are quiet. I really like the silicone band on the inside of the waist that keeps shirts tucked in and the cool air out when hiking."
