"The outfitters wool vest is a great addition to my hunting gear, price was good (especially for a quality wool garment ) but when I bought it I foolishly ignored other reviews and ordered the 3x so I could wear it over layers-this thing is huge even on me (6'-#275 ) . The bellows pockets are great for gear and/or boxes of shotgun shells, the zipper and the snap down storm flap work well keeping the weather on the outside. I really like the zipper pocket on the chest, it holds a compass and my labs e-collar transmitter in the perfect location. The camo pattern works well everywhere I've used it-bow hunting for whitetails and also in the spring turkey woods. The lining is good at eliminating the classic wool itch. The snaps on the pockets are a little on the small side, kinda tough to work with cold, arthritic fingers but for me this vest earns a 5 star rating."

"I was very impressed with this vest. I purchased it for my annual deer camp trip to Erie. With the lake being only 45 minutes north of where we hunt, the weather is always cold, damp and snow,snow,snow!!!!!
This vest kept my core warm and is sized to fit just right, not to mention all of the guys in camp needed to try it on just because they liked the looks of it!

"Quality materials, well made, quiet and comfortable. I would have like to have had a traditional collar that could be folded up to keep wind and cold off of the back of my neck. This was easily over come by ordering a fleece neck gator in "Cabela's Camo" to match or with a silk "Wildrag". The vest is long enough to cover your waist line when crouched or bending over. This is especially important when horseback. Pockets are very large and can hold plenty of shells or gear.
About the sizing: I am 6', 220lbs, 46 " chest and 34" waist. I generally wear a 2XL but when I received this vest in a 2XL it was huge! Cabela's with their outstanding customer service exchanged it for an XL with no additional shipping charges. This fits nicely with plenty of maneuvering room over layers of thermals and wool or chamois shirts.

"Bought the vest for two purposes: for under a hunting jacket as an additional layer, and to wear over flannel, wool shirts or a sweater as an outer layer on a cool/cold day. Bought it because it was washable.
Pluses: Warm, well made, washable
Minuses: Very stiff [expect it to soften with time] .
Dealbreaker: The collar. Wore it to drive a car. Restrictive, stiff. Doesn't fold down. Coupled with snaps at top of flap, very limited in what you can do with it. Would have been MUCH better with different collar or no collar."

"Keeps you warm underneath. Be cautious though as this vest is way oversized. I usually wear an XL but with this vest a M fit just right. "This vest is very well made. The material is excellent and comfortable to wear. Most importantly, it's warm and stays that way even when damp. The pocket locations and size are excellent. My only complaint is the small snap tips which are difficult to engage with gloves on and are probably going to wear out quicker than they should. Normal wide heavy gauge jacket snaps are needed. The thick material requires them. Actually, I'd be just as happy with big buttons and a velcro strip to hold down the wind flap.
Nevertheless, this is such a basically good design that I'd probably buy it again. I'll change out the snaps at some point. The garment is otherwise good enough to warrant it."
