"This offering from Bear is a real nice bow, especially for the investment. Shoots just as accurate and fast as other much more expensive bows from Bear... or from competitive companies. Quiet and very smooth shooter. This is the third Bear compound owned, and the best. Even friends who shoot recurves have tried it out and like it. Thinking of buying another one for my son-in-law to replace his old compound. Looking forward to deer season more than ever."

"this is a great bow for the begginer or novice, shoots very well and smooth. the only problem I found with the bow package is the accesories, the stabilzer is junk. The site will work for the begginer but is made of plastic and will have to upgrade. So I would just buy the bow and not the package, you won't be dissapointed bear makes a great product just went cheap with the package!"

"I bought this bow to go hunting with my father during the fall Archery deer season in Illinois. When it arrived it was ready to shoot just like it said. Tuning the bow took only a couple of minutes, and the bow shot consistant groups. The let off is high so it is easy to hold back, and it is fast enough to put a three blade broadhead all the way through a deer at 20 yards. Overall an excellent bow and would recomend to anyone."

Amazing Bow At A Good Price,August 28, 2008

"I was a little jaded about trying the Fred Bear Showdown after owning an Element but I must say that Bear took all the wrong things about the Element and made them right with the Showdown. For starters the Element was a LOUD bow and there were problems of the cam string anchor screws coming loose and slipping, (a major problem) and the bows recoil was more than I cared for. Then comes the Showdown. This bow is built on the same basic concept as the element but with a nice QUIET shot instead of the loudness of its earlier partner. Also the problem of the cams string anchor screw was addressed and fixed. The bow itself has very little bow recoil as a result of the new improved pivoting limb cups with rubber base inserts which prevent the bows limbs from actually directly contacting the riser. The Showdowns accuracy is deadly and my bows "out of the box" speed was 302 fps (very fast) compared to the box rated 290 fps (still fast) when i shot it throught the chronograph before tweaking . Bucks beware. This bow is perhaps the most forgiving bow that Ive ever shot. The specs on this bow says it will shoot 290 fps IBO speeds but i found that using a light carbon arrow cut to 26", broadheads or field points of 100 grains and using a 4" overdraw with my bow set at 70 lb draw weight and 29" draw length that this bow is able to blister an arrow through the chrono at 345 fps and still remain as accurate as the best bows out there. Needless to say I was very impressed by this bow. Ive shot other higher priced "higher end" name brand bows but this bow belongs in the ranks right beside the best and is better than most. The advantage hunter is the sister bow to this one and is identical in every way exept for the camo pattern. If your looking for a high end bow at a low end price , pick this bow up. You will be glad you did."
