"Recently got the wireless bow mount trolling motor which replaced a 21 year old Johnson mechanical foot control motor. This wireless is taking some geting used to as it is very sensitive. I liked my old Johnson better except for the cable that was always in the way."

"Bought this motor to mount on my pontoon boat. Easy to install and works great. The free handheld remote was a great plus, was one of the reasons I bought this motor.

My pontoon boat is my fishing rig and not having wires laying on the deck is nice, and being able to control the motor from anywhere on the boat."

"The removeable bow mounting system is ingenious and solid as a rock. It only takes a minute to install or remove. The signal going from the wireless remotes is fast and responsive. Having two wireless remotes makes setting the boat for anchoring much easier, especially when one operator's hands are full. The motor is extremely quiet, powerful, and doesn't provide interference with the fish finders. Great design and engineering. It would be nice if the manufacturers would provide a manual reset circuit breaker with bow mount trolling motors."

"I bought the 55 lb 12v motor and cannot believe how much better it is than the old mechanical model. I wear the wireless remote and can fish from the back of the boat. I screwed the foot control to the deck to keep it from ending up in the lake. It's also very handy when you need to leave the front of the boat for tackle or refreshments. I've used the fob a dozen time to control the boat while a retrieved a lure from brush.

As far as durability, on a night fishing trip I accidentally drove onto the trailer with the motor down. I hit so hard that it tore the motor mount screws from the boat. I was glad I'd used the rubber mounted screws. The shaft was unharmed.

Two rather serious problems bother me every time I go out.

1. There is no light to let you know when the motor is on. There really should be an LED on the motor. The motor beeps twice when you turn it off but it's hard to hear and I am often confused if it is on or off when trolling at slower speeds.

2. No momentary on switch. I really would like a switch that has the motor on only while I hold it down. It makes me wonder if anyone at Motorguide actually fishes. I think not.

If Motorguide is listening, you are only a few bucks worth of parts from having a great motor. Fix these omissions!"

"motor works great! STRONG! The only thing to make it better would be a light in the face of the motor that lit up when the motor was turned on so those of us who are hard of hearing would know if it was on when at very low speed and weather conditions are windy."

"MY OLD TROLLING MOTOR QUIT WORKING AFTER 10 YEARS, SO I DECIDED TO REPLACE IT WITH A MOTOR GUIDE WIRELESS UNIT WITH COMPOSIT SHAFT THAT HAS A LIFE TIME WARRANTY. ON THE SECOND DAY ON WATER THE SHAFT BROKE AT THE BASE ON THE FIRST STUMP IT HIT.
WHEN THE SHAFT BRAKES THE UNIT HAS TO BE TAKEN OFF
BEFORE CAN MOVE BOAT BECAUSE WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE WATER.
TALKED TO MOTOR GUIDE AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO TAKE TO MOTOR GUIDE AND THEY WOULD DECIDE IF WARRANTY ( IF ANYONE WORKED ON IT OTHER THAN MOTOR
GUIDE THE WARRANTY WOULD BE VOID ) SO I MADE THE 65
MILE TRIP ( ONE WAY ) TO THE NEAREST SERVICE CENTER
NOW IT HAS BEEN 8 WEEKS WITH OUT A TROLLING MOTOR
SINCE THEN I'VE BEEN INFORMED WOULD NOT BE COVERED ( SHAFT IS ONLY COVERED IF NOT BROKE ) AND ALSO THAT MOTOR GUIDE HAS NO PLANS
TO OFFER A BRAKE AWAY MOUNT TO PREVENT SHAFT FROM
BRAKING. WHICH MAKES THIS UNIT UNUSABLE FOR BASS
FISHING IN STRUCTURE AND DEFEATS THE ADD WHICH STATES YOU CAN CONTROLE FROM ANYWHERE ON BOAT
OTHER THAN THE SHAFT THE UNIT SEEMS TO WORK
OK BUT ONLY USED FOR SHORT TIME BEFORE BROKE.
DOES HAVE AN ANOYING BEEP WHEN BUTTONS PUSHED
AND NOISY WHEN TURNING.

"I am not very happy with this trolling motor. Shortly after installing it the battery test light stopped working. The receiver is supposed to beep when you push on the foot controls, and this has never worked. Lastly, and worst of all, the foot control switches do not work easily, and sometimes require sevreal stomps on them to get them to work. This is dangerous when trying to get the motor to stop, and it continues to run while you hit rocks and bottom. I called MotorGuide (which has no e-mail address or 1-800 number) and complained, and was told the only thing I could do is take it to the nearest dealer who is 225 miles away. I was very unsatisfied with the dealer response. Finally I took the foot control apart and discovered it contains microswitches that were not making good contact. I inserted spacers under them, and now they work fairly well. The motor itself works well, and I do like the wireless foot control that can be operated from anywhere in my 16' boat. Overall, I would not recommend the motor to anyone due to the features that don't work the way they are supposed to, and mainly because of the manufacture attitude to my problems."

"Have tried other foot control trolling motors. This Motorguide is by far the best. Is very easy to use. Because of leg problems, it is necessary for me to be at the back of my boat while fishing and this trolling motor makes it possible to control my boat from the back thus eliminating leg discomfort."
