30 06 165 grain SST,
November 18, 2009
By hawkeye73

"While I am a fan of the Hornady ammo. I am unable to use any of their ammo in my Remington 7600 pump. My rifle was already sighted in with teh Federal 165 grain NBT. When I tried to switch to the hornady I could not group at all. Also after only several shots my barrell was so hot I could not touch it. I slo shoot the Hornady in my Browning BLR 7mm Mag. The rifle does fine with their ammo."

Big Bucks Down,
September 27, 2009
By Blacktailpassion
from Shelton, WA
|
"I shoot a Remmington model 700 in a .270 and last year I shot a 180lb. field dressed Blacktail at 312 yds right in the boiler room and the buck went a total of 30yds with the bullet going all the way through with a nice exit hole leaving easy tracking. While in Idaho last year using the same 140grain BTSP Hornadays I took a 200lb + Whitetail from 252 yds and had to track him for a whole 20ft yes 20ft. Ive been sold on these rounds since they came out with them, at the range i get tight groupings with about the same kick and love the long and flatter distance of the rounds allowing for confidence in longer shots THANKS HORNADAY."

Hornady light magnum ammo,
September 18, 2009
By Smokless
from western states via central california
|
"Unfortunatly 180g 30-06 would not group well in my particular rifle, had this problem with other mfg ammo so cant comment about accuracy Be carefull when mixing in light mag ammo while testing on the range - considerally more recoil than std ammo, sporting a little scope ding above my eye as proof. Been very happy in the past with hronady ammo in general."

.280 Light Magnum on Whitetails,
September 13, 2009
By Vertilli
from Texas
|
"I've used this load in my Ruger 77-MkII .280Rem for several years with complete success. I know that moly coated bullets are out of favor today, but my Ruger loves 'em giving consistent 1 1/2" groups at 200 yards if I do my part.
I've actually put this load through a chrono and it's right at what the website says it should track which, incidentally, is w/in 200-300 fps of a standard 7mmMag load. I love this round!!!
The last two deer I shot were both quartering shots (one towards, one facing away) and neither ran more than 30 yards from where they were hit and both died quickly and humanely. I'm a big believer in the heart-shot and both deer had their hearts turned into jelly with large exit wounds that made tracking easy.
I'd highly recommend this load."

"Using this in my .243 Savage Model 11, instantly dropped a beautiful eight-point buck at 125 yards. Interlok bullet went clear through both shoulders and had a 1" exit hole!....accurate and dependable ammo and well worth the cost."

Tight, Tight, Tight,
August 19, 2009
By RobnDenver

"Sighting in a Remington Model 700 .30-06 with 165gr SST's that I will be using for Antelope season was incredible. At 100 yards I had a four shot group that I could cover with my thumb just using a standard corncob filled rifle bag as a rest Just to see how my rifle would perform with another brand of ammo, I shot 5 Winchester 180gr Silvertips and they were all over the target, two outside the black by about 4 inches. I'll be using these rounds for a good long time."

2 different rifles,
June 22, 2009
By BobND
from North Dakota
|
"My brother and I have two identical Remington Model 700 .270 rifles. We purchased the 130 grain bullets and took them to the range. When I shot a 3 shot group out of mine, they grouped fairly well (about a 1.5" group) about 2" above where my reloads were grouping. I was very happy with this (I am attributing this to the additional velocity) and plan to hunt with them this fall. However, when my brother shot them, they were all over the page. He couldn't get them to group at all. Thinking that his rifle was off, we switched to his reloads and they shot just fine. Every rifle is different. I would encourage everyone to test different ammo to see what shoots best in their rifle!"

Consistent Sub-MOA,
May 31, 2009
By K2Hunter
from Frederick,MD
|
"I've tried several (over a dozen) different manufacturer's rounds out of my Browning Hunter 30-06 and have found the 165 grain Hornady Light Magnum SST's to be the most consistent and accurate rounds yet. I have a barrel de-resonator mounted on the barrel about 1" from the forend which may also be a contributing factor to the acuracy I am achieving. From a bench at the range I am getting consistent and repeatable sub-MOA (1/2" to 1/4") groups with some regular hole cutting. While many of the other loads produce some good groups (some are MOA), these Hornady loads produce the tightest and most consistent groups. I am sold on this ammunition. I am a believer that every rifle has a round that will perform better that others and believe I have found the round that my 30-06 likes! I took a 5 point buck in 2008 @~90 yards with a heart-lung shot with this round. He ran for about 20 yards and dropped. This round exited w/a 2"hole and devestated the organs. I would not like to have a shot that hits the good meat as I believe it would ruin quite a bit. Place your shots carefully when you use this round."

April 16, 2009
By Africa2009

"I used the 375 H&H 270 gr SP-RP on my recent safari. This ammo has less recoil than the Federal 300 gr Barnes X. It did the job. My friend and I took 7 animals in 5 days with these bullets including 2 Kudu, 2 Gemsbuck, 2 Impala, 1 Blesbuck."

Hornady Light Mag 30-06 165gr Interbond,
February 23, 2009
By michael4436
|
"I used this to sight in my Remmington 700 CDL today and shot a .21" 5 shot group at 100 yards with nothing but my rifle and ordinary sand bags. This is by far the most accurate ammunition I have ever used in 30-06. It is a little louder, and kicks harder, but thats ok. Also I noticed that it heated the barrel up a lot faster than most other ammunition, so if you dont plan on hunting, this probably isnt the ammunition for you."

Love this ammo,

"My new rifle has a new best friend: Hornady Light Mag 165g Interbond. I tried Reminton CorLoks, Federal, Winchester first all with mixed results. My first group of five produced four of five kissing each other at 100yrds. From 200yrds two and three inch groups. I had never shot at 200yrds before but had to try after my groups at 100yrds proved deadly accurate. My Savage 111 30.06 is happy, and I plan on filling some deer and hog tags in the very near future with the help of this round. Highly recommened!!"
