Good, but.........,May 19, 2009
By Traditionalfrom Northern Vermont
"The sharpness is excellent and shoot well for me. But, what I don't like is the fact that you cannot secure the blades to the ferrule. The rear collar is not threaded so the broadheads must be screwed into the arrow shaft for the blades to be held tight. Other models of Sonic broadheads have a threaded collor. With those heads you can swap between practice points and broadheads easy and you don't have to mess around with putting the blades back in the ferrule everytime you remove them. These heads have a set of practice blades, which is a nice feature."

Great Fixed Blade,June 25, 2008
By ARIZONAHUNTERfrom Arizona
"I usually shoot cut-on-contact mechanicals, but due to game laws on certain areas of land I hunted last October for elk, I was only allowed to use a fixed blade broadhead. My choice was the Sonic Pro 100 grain 1" broadhead. They fly almost identical to my filed points. On my bow, they fly just 3 inches lower than my field points but they fly the exact same, left & right. My Dad uses G5 Montec's and was skeptical on my choice...until he saw my downed cow elk, and the broadhead after the shot. I took a 50 yard, quartering away shot at my cow elk. The broadhead went in the last rib on the right side, and passed completely through the elk, coming out the front left shoulder. A complete pass through on a quartering shot! Think about that...On an elk that's about 4 feet of penetration of solid muscle and bone!! The elk ran 50 yards, took two steps, fell over, and died on the spot. My Dad could not believe the bleed-out on the elk from only a 1" cutting diameter broadhead, but these heads do the damage! By far the best cut-on-contact fixed blade I have ever shot, and I will not shoot any other type of fixed blade until something proves to be better for me. The broadhead was perfectly intact after the shot, with a few roughened edges on the blades due to extreme bone penetration, but NOTHING on the broadhead was broken or even cracked at all. If you don't believe me, you can see the pictures of me and the broadhead on American Broadhead's website. If this product did not work well I would not rate it well, but this broadhead is AWESOME. I drew a great trophy bull elk tag this year and plan on using them on the hunt in September."

Not bad at all!,May 13, 2008
By MikeB111from Pickens, SC
"I killed two whitetails fall 2007. Both shots less than 30 yds. Two big dissapointments in Sonic Pro. 1) Although both shots were pass thrus, there was pretty severe damage to blades, not the toughest ----------2) Not a great blood trail, first deer traveled over 100 yds. with moderate blood loss, second deer traveled 75 yds. with NO blood trail. (luckily circled to recover)---Both shots passed thru rib cage and exited low severing the liver in both cases. Will definetly be trying something else in '08---probably G5 Montec!! Straight shooting and good luck to all my bowhunting buds!!"

"These broadheads are great at what they do and that is cutting through absolutly anything this head punched through rib on the way in and out and made a bigger hole than I thought was posible because they look much to small to do so the only problem I'm haveing is finding a set of replacement blades for the Sonic pro 100, but I will use these broadheads untill they make something better'' imposible'' P.S check out their web sit and watch the bear hunt you will be impressed"

ABC kills deer,October 31, 2007
By j6606from Oshkosh, WI
"Sonic pro 125's did something I'd personally never done...put four holes in a deer with one shot. On a quartering toward shot from a steep angle the deer turned it's head to look back along it's body as I released......my ABC 125 Sonic Pro went in the left jaw, out the right mid neck area, entered the right flank, went through lung and heart, and completely passed out the left lower rib/diaphram region.....the deer went 15 yards.....great blood trail....highly recommend."

Great broadhead!,October 9, 2007
By cmrphebeefrom Michigan
"Shot my first buck with this broadhead. Shooting a 63# Reflex Grizzly and xx75 2315 arrows. Complete pass thru. Excellent entry and exit wound, perfect for a blood trail. They fly just like field points and are super sharp. Would highly recommend them.
Recovered the arrow and the blades need to be replaced. Blades aren't that durable but then again the arrow did end up into the ground, hitting rocks and stones."

jimshoes,October 5, 2007
By Buckhorn1from Martinsville Indiana
"As advertised the sonic pro flew close to a field points flight. I did find that ia all cases if you use a hundred grain field tip and the hundred grain sonic pro in comparison the sonic pro flew slightly higher. I just moved my bow sight up slightly to compensate. The penetration is more than advertised. I bought a Glendel Buck with the standard insert and got an occasional pass through at 302 fps at 20 yards."

come sharp - stay sharp,March 9, 2007
By NevadaArcherfrom Southern Nevada
"I have used several different broadheads through the years. Non fly as true to my field tips as these sonics do. But more than that, these babies come "scary" sharp from the factory and after literally dozens of shots through my practice target, they are still sharp!"

Supreme & Deadly penetration - but fragile,January 24, 2007
By bighowefrom Grand Rapids, MI
"I find these heads to fly excellent out of a bow shooting 275+ fps. They did not plane very much at all. It was impressive.
The penetration is SUPREME. I made a shot out of my tree stand that went through a bucks left side ribs, then through the lungs and heart, through ribs again, then directly THROUGH the deers right front leg bone, AND THEN the tip lodged itself into a tree root four inches deep in the forest soil! It was crazy, I could not believe it. Buck ran 25 yards and dropped. Now that's penetration.
The Achilles heel is durability. NOT GOOD. The blades bend, and the ferules bend/break if they hit bone, wood, or other hard material. The head from the previously described shot for example was shreded. The Blades were bent, and ferrule was broken. I burned through four heads in one season. If you can afford replacing the broken ones, I don't think you can find a deeper penetrating head. I wish ABC could make them stronger though."

"These heads are not durable. One shot into an animal or the ground and the ferrul bends and you have to buy a new head. I had good penetration but did not llike the durability. I would not buy them again."

Sonic Pro,November 24, 2006
By BowhuntDadfrom Up a Tree
"I was waiting on this review until I actually was able to shoot at a deer. Well, waiting definitely paid off! I shot a 160 class non-typical a week ago. It was a great test for this head because it was a quartering to me shot.
I placed the arrow very accurately in FRONT of the left shoulder. Due to the angle, the broadhead took out the trachea and the entire length of the right lung. Penetration was up to the fletching, probably because of shot placement.
Anyway, the ferrule survived, but the blades were severely dulled after the shot. I assume because of the frontal shot. It definitely did its job. I'm putting replacement blades in and going after another one."

Flying true,November 21, 2006
By bsharkeyfrom Corning, New York
"I was pleased to find a fixed blade broadhead that would shoot out of my Bowtech Liberty. When I released my first arrow I was relieved to not have to change my sights to accomodate the broadhead. I also use the Quickspin fletchings, so whether that was a factor in a precise equation I guess you would have to shoot your set up to find out. I now have a 120 class eight point to put on my wall, so my vote would be a yes for this product."

"Top Shelf" Broadhead,November 21, 2006
By DUB123from A Texan who loves the outdoors.
"The Sonic Pro 100 has proven to be an outstanding broadhead and is now the only broadhead I carry in my quiver.
To me the toughest challage of any broadhead is penetration on thick skinned animals. I have successfully used the Sonic Pro 100 on numerous ferrell hogs, javelina, white tail deer, red deer and even an oryx. Each time the Sonic Pro 100 performed perfectly with deep penetration or in most cases complete pass-throughs. In fact, the oryx hunt was an eye opener to me because I got to see first hand how a well placed shot from a sub-300 fps bow using a "Top Shelf" broadhead could outperform a .270 rifle.
My friend and I were hunting oryx on a ranch in Texas. He was using a .270 rifle with 140 grain bullets while I was using my bow with the Sonic Pro 100 broadhead. We were both fortunate enough to take an animal. My Buddy shot his first and as I was helping him dress the animal I discovered the bullet lodged in the opposite side of the animal across from the entry wound, just under the skin. It was a perfect shot, directly behind the shoulders catching both lungs and the heart, but the bullet did not pass completely through the animal even though the shot was less than 100 yards.
I was a little concerned at that point because I shoot a fairly light arrow, only about 400 grains in total mass, and I wasn't sure if I had enough kenitic energy to do the job. Later that same day I found out. I too was blessed with a good shot on a good animal. I think my heart nearly jumped out of my body when I watched my arrow pass all the way through the animal and then watched the animal fall over in less than 30 yards. I give a lot of the credit to the Sonic Pro 100. I truely believe it made the difference."
