Camera Tripod,September 10, 2009
By IRGUYfrom South Texas
"I am very satisfied with this tripod. I purchased it to support a very heavy infrared camera in high winds. Since receiving it I have used it several times with great success. In wind gust up to 20 mph the tripod did not budge. I was always scared with my previous tripod but I have a much more secure feeling now. thanks"

Not durable,March 2, 2009
By Muddymacfrom Chicago, IL
"This is a fine tripod if you want to use a light spotting scope or SLR with a smaller than 200mm lens. I would caution its use in very cold weather and with any large piece of glass that you care about. I had mine out this weekend in the teens and the center column sleeve cracked into 6 pieces, rendering the tripod useless.
Bottom line, if you want a "professional" tripod, don't buy this one. If you want a solid, general tripod, it's nice."

"Tripod is excellant tool to use in glassing for game in the field. Uses are unlimited and the extra ounces are a good trade off for the comfort and steadiness of being able to stand or sit while using. Great quality for the price."

Cabelas Carbon Fiber Tripod 65",October 23, 2008
By Tristenfrom Roseburg, OR
"Cabelas did it again with another great product. It's sturdy, well balanced and the ball socket works great. The quick release scope detachment also works great for easy on and easy off. I have the 65" model and the height is comfortable even standing up. The legs are adjustable up, down, and out. That works great for uneven terrain. What a remarkable product thanks again Cabelas and keeep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Cabela's Professional Carbon Fiber Tripods,July 7, 2008
By ROA1from Rural Utah
"I'm using this tripod for a Leupold 12-40 X 60 gold ring spotting scope. I like the heft ,but not too heavy feel. It's quiter than aluminum. If I'm sitting on the side hill and can have the scope legs "in' it's really stable, and greatly improves focus on the scope. I had to add a rubber shoe to get my scope to screw to the ball head with enough surface area to really make it snug- or I definitely would be sending it back. I'm not liking the two hands required operation of the ball head, it takes one hand to move the scope around, and one hand to keep adjusting the 'tension' on the ball to stabilize. But I'm willing to give it a shot and see if I can get used to it. I'm also worried about the numerous allen head attachments. After I pound this around in my back pack or on my four wheeler, am I going to find that I'm always trying to find the peices and replace them? I have to decide if I can live with the short falls for the cost, which I think was fair. I don't think this tripod has enough strength for a big glass like a swarovski. I've only used this tripod sparingly and am considering if I should return it- to be honest. I'd say I'm 50 / 50 on it really! It does some things great - other things are lacking. Sorry if this isn't much help."

Carbon fiber tripod,June 30, 2008
By NevadaChuckfrom Fernley, NV
"I've been in the market for a carbon fiber tripod and have scoured the net to learn what is available and what I should expect to pay. This unit is by far the best "bang for the buck" that I've come across. The price of the professional unit is about right for carbon fiber tripods WITHOUT a ball head! Since taking delivery of the tripod and actually getting to see and handle and use it, I am very pleased to say that my first impressions were accurate. This tripod is a winner!"

Carbon 65 Tripod,May 8, 2008
By Photochicfrom Beaufort SC
"I am a female wildlife photographer so size and weight of equipment is very important. This tripod is light and strong. My digital SLR with a 200-400mm zoom lens feels stable and secure. Only complaints: feet that can unscrew too easily and the quick-release camera/scope platform gets loose easily and has to be tightened frequently. The suppled hex wrench is not sized for the platform, but the legs. Have to carry another one, but the bag has a good pocket.
The price for the quality is great. This would cost much more at a camera store."

Good sturdy tripod,December 31, 2007
By Sheepslayerfrom Utah
"I purchased the Cabela's Professional Carbon Fiber Tripod to us with my AT65 Swarovski spotting scope. I used it on an Alaskan brown bear hunt as well as a desert sheep hunt this fall. I found the tripod to be very strudy and easy to use. The adjustment knob is easy to use and very solid. My wife used the tripod to video tape marching band competitions for our daughter. After the first use she put her other tripod in the closest for good."

Tripod Review,October 30, 2007
By GEORGIAGOBBLERfrom Snellville, Georgia
"I'll be short on this. It is a great tripod. It is not indestructible as is the case with most products. Proper care is always required. I only have one small complaint. The quality put into the carrying case is exceptional and if they would have extended it a little longer so that I would not have to remove my grip when sheathing, it would have been great. Still not that big of a problem because it has an accessories pocket on the side to hold the grip when packing out. Please have a safe and enjoyable time afield - See Ya'"

good overall tripod,January 5, 2007
By 22rook22from Colorado
"I use my tripod for photography. I tried my spotting scope, but it is too big and the setup isn't very sturdy. However, for photography it is fantastic. It has bubble levels and easy adjustment for panaramics. I bought it for it's weight and it is light compared to the rest of my camera equipment. I've had no problem carrying it several miles and setting it up in water and on rocks. Make sure you carry the appropriate sized allen wrenches. It is a product I recommend and enjoy."

carbon fiber tripod,November 27, 2006
By craigsbfrom salt lake city
"I guess I should let you know that I am a very serious mule deer fanatic. I am also a back packer who watches the weight of my gear. The main reason I purchased this particular tripod was because it is incredibly light. But now that I have a hunting season behind me while using this tripod, I feel that I can give some good feedback on it. First the positives: Besides the already mentioned light weight, the tripod is very sturdy and strong even extended to its maximum heigth. The tripod is actually really tall when it is extended all the way up. I also really like the head and the way it manuevers and adjusts. I like the case that it comes in, although I dont keep it in the case when I pack in, It is nice to have it and use most if the time. Somethings that could be better: The first thing that I would like to see improved would be the feet (for lack of a better word) The base of each leg has a ball on it that is very nice until it falls off. I have lost two and it is only a matter of time until the last one falls off. Another area that I am not satisfied with is the fastners or allen wrench screws that come loose. The tripod legs get a little floppy. One last thing would be that some of the screws have started to rust due to wet weather. I am very happy with this tripod and although it has some weaknesses, for the most part it is a great tripod and I am fairly happy with it. Thanks, Craig"
