Warm and Comfy, September 19, 2009
By nroark from Retired in Colorado

"I have not camped in years so I was apprehensive about staying warm in mid-30's low temps. The only thing that got cold was my nose! The fleece lined hood and footbox were nice and cozy and the shoulder drawstring added warmth. The size of the bag was perfect. I am about 5'4" and 150 lbs. It was nice not to have 2 feet of bag hanging below my feet. I was car/tent camping so can't say how it is to carry on a backpack."

    Value-Priced Sleeping Bag, September 12, 2009
    By dwinn1 from Washington, DC

"Good deal so far. I purchased this sleeping bag for my girlfriend a couple of weeks ago. We just got back from camping up in the Appalachians. She was extremely pleased with both the quality and warmth of this bag. While she has only used it once, and only when the temperature dipped in the mid 40's, so far it seems to be an exceptionally value-priced sleeping bag. My only gripe is that it doesn't come with a stuff bag to pack it into. I'm a little surprised that Cabela's couldn't include such a minor accessory as a little nylon bag. Therefore, if you purchase this sleeping bag, make sure you order an accompanying stuff bag."

Packable and Warm, July 23, 2009
By CreepinJeni from Traverse City, Michigan

"This was the ideal size and weight I was looking for in a bag. I recently used it on a four day camping trip in Northern Michigan. During the course of the trip, the night-time temperatures fluctuated from 60 to 45 degrees. On the warmer nights, I was comfortable and did not get too warm. The bag kept me very cozy during the cooler night. Loved the softness of the fleece and over-all feel of the bag. Great blue color too!"

    A Good Sleeping Bag, July 20, 2009
    By ADKMel from Mechanicville, NY

"I brought this bag on a 3 day Memorial Weekend trip in the Northern Adirondacks. It gets very cold at night that time of year and I was toasty warm in this sleeping bag. I found it comfortable even though it is a mummy-style bag and I am not used to having my movement constricted. There is enough room at the feet that you don't feel claustrophobic. The only downside for me is the chest area is tight, most likely due to the fact that I'm a bit heavier than the average backpacker would be and these bags are designed for backpacking.
The bag was easy to pack in, fitting easily in the bottom section of my pack and weighs only a few pounds.
Overall, I am very satisfied and would recommend this sleeping bag.

great bag for the price, May 4, 2009
By dinkerdoo from Sactown,Calif., avid hiker/outdoorsperson

"This bag fits nicely into my back pack, especially because of the compression sack. We had some chilly nights down to 30 degrees, and I was comfortable. It's such a huge difference from my old bag of 15 years ago. I hesitated at first to buy a synthetic bag versus down, but am glad I made the right choice."

Great Sleeping bag!!!, July 9, 2008
    By MountainGirl from Northern California

"I used this sleeping bag for the 1st time and wasn't cold at all! I loved the fleece by the feet and by my head. It made getting into the bag a nice change from the cold bag I had before. This bag is 2lbs heavier than my old sleeping bag, but I didn't really notice the difference. As far as I'm concerned, I'll take the extra 2lbs for the better warmth.
One other great feature - with the synthetic material rather than down, it dries a LOT faster. My husband's down sleeping bag was still very wet from the dew while mine dried out quickly. I highly reccomend this sleeping bag for backpackers or at anytime.

Great for cold nights, July 8, 2008
    By littlesiouxpaddler

"Most of my backpack/kayak camping takes place in the summer, and this bag is too hot for summer nights! So that's why I give it 4 stars. I got the warmer-rated bag. It is light to carry, fits in my pack well, seems durable (haven't used it much) and will definitely keep you warm. Too warm. I use a bigger, bulkier Coleman bag most nights now because this XPG bag is too warm for the Iowa outback in summertime. Guess I'll have to do more winter camping. I like that this bag has a little pocket for critical items you don't want to look for in the morning when you're sleeping out under the stars."

    Sleeping Bag, June 2, 2008
    By Letsgo from Homer, Alaska

"Roomy, comfy, WARM, lightweight, packable. I like the roomy footbox, easy zippers, and overall ease of movement within the bag. Have only tried it in moderately cool weather, but am confident it will work well for backpacking, boat, and cold weather camping."

Great sleeping bag, February 20, 2008
    By Bow4Elk from Denver, Colorado

"This is an excellent sleeping bag. Initally you might think the Primaloft insulation does not loft like the other synthetics and could not possibly keep you as warm. Well, don't worry, this bag is a real roaster. The technology of this insulation reflects the heat and not just traps it; therefore, not as much loft is needed. On our last backpacking snowshoe trip this sleeping bag kept my wife warm when it was 4 degrees in the Colorado mountains at about 10,700 feet in elevation. I think the extra insulation in the foot box has helped to stop her previous complants of being cold. This is a first women specific sleeping bag for her. She said the big zippers are a good idea because it helps her get in and out of the bag much easier (I didn't even consider this feature at the time of purchase.) I selected this sleeping bag for her because of how it compresses real small, almost like down. This is important for winter camping when backpacking in with snowshoes. Well, why not just get down? A good down bag is just too expensive and also some of our backpacking trips take us into wet areas were down would not be a good choise. My wife and I highly recommend this sleeping bag."

"When buying this item the men's size was not avaible so since I am small in stature I would recommend this product to men 5'9" and smaller. It kept me warm and with the extra padding in the feet area was an extra bonus. Men don't be afraid to buy this one!!!"

Great camping sleeping bag., August 20, 2007
    By ColoMB from Louisville, CO

"I bought this bag to replace my Cabela's 'youth' camping bag that my parents had purchased 15 years ago. I bought this particular model because of the extra warmth along the thighs and toe-box, and it is a little bit more roomy than the standard bag size. We've camped at high altitude in Colorado all summer, and I have been very pleased with this bag. I haven't gotten cold once!

Here are some specifics that I like about the bag:
-The bag zipper also opens at the toes, so I can open it a bit there and still be very warm every where else.
-The fleece-lined mummy-hood is very soft. I probably wouldn't have bought the bag just for this feature, but I am so glad it is there. It feels very soft & warm on your face.
-It is easy to cinch the hood and inside liner around you while you're in the bag and easy to get out of it.
-The compression sack that comes with the bag takes the size down nicely for easy packing.

I would recommend this bag to anyone camping in cooler locations or who gets cold easily. It does weigh several ounces more than other comparable bags because of the extra material along the thighs & toe-box, but I think the extra weight is worth the warmth.
