6'x6' Hub Shelter hits the mark,

"Just received my shelter today Priority Mail. Great speedy shipping. Cleared out some floor space in the basement and proceeded to assemble, uh make that set up, the tent. There is no assembly required. Just take it out of the case, unfold it and pop out the top and four sides. Once you have done it a couple times its a one minute operation. Now for some real world testing. Today was 25 degrees with 15 mph gusting to 25. We have 5 inches of ice and 2 inches of snow so conditions were ideal. The shelter set up just as easy on the lake. I did learn one "trick." When its windy, before opening up all the sides, set one of the supplied ice screw anchors in one of the corner apron grommets. This allows you a secure canvas to finish popping up so you aren't fighting the wind at the same time. The 6'x6' is BIG. I've got an HT Greenhouse and the Ice Team Hub Shelter is like a barn in comparison. I can easily make a 2'x 3' spearing hole, add a heater, lawn chair, cook stove, UW camera system and even the dog bed and have plenty of room left over. This is my first HUB style and I'll never use any thing else from now on. For installing ice anchors I use a hand brace and bit with a 1/4" drill bit to quickly drill pilot holes to screw the ice anchors into. So adding anchors to each hub loop and on an apron grommet or two is a piece of cake.
One thing that is helpful: I'm 6'2" with long arms and still reaching the Hub pull loops was a "stretch" even for me. I'd suggest tying a 12 inch piece of small rope or cord with a knot at the end to each loop for making it easier to grab and pop out into position. As far as room inside for just plain fishing, you could easily have four anglers and chairs/buckets inside this shelter and room for the heater. Two guys could easily spear inside this tent with a 2' x 5' hole.
Construction is Cabelas quality as expected with sturdy material that is light tight for spearos . Even the gray roof is black on the inside. I love the covered vents that can be opened to purge some of the moisture out of the tent and still not let much light in. Works especially well as I found out if you position one of the vent sides against the wind. The doors zipper open and closed very easily with no tight stress. I did take some silicone spray on a rag and wipe down the zipper teeth on each door to make the zipping process slide even better.
Overall I'm sure this shelter will serve me well for several years. Its a bit long in the case but fits on the 6 wheeler or in the sled with no problem. Its even packable with shoulder straps if you are on foot."
