"I selected this base for installation on a classic custom stocked rifle and it works and looks great. I had initially used another mount with vertical split rings but I couldn't get the scope as low as I could with Leupold horizontal split rings. This base is a proven design that has worked well for decades and has the great advantage of being able to readily swap scopes."
