12 X 20 vESTIBULE,October 27, 2009
By struppfrom Northern Wisconsin
"The addition of the Vestibule to the tent was a great ideal. It gave us extra room for storage of equipment and an area to cook. First used the Vestibule on a rainy cold weekend and it was well worth the investment. We are going to buy another one for the other end of the tent. You really need this if you have more then 4 people in the tent. It also kept the cold air from blowing right thru the vent panels above the tent doors."

Worth the the money,October 19, 2009
By Runolfsonfrom Beaverton, OR
"I ordered the tent without the vestibule. But a couple weeks later I decided to order the vestibule also. I thought the price was a bit high and was thinking that I would build or use a popup canopy for the front door area. I reconsidered and couldn't be more happy with it. The first time I used it, it snowed 5" and worked great. The snow would just slide off. I set up my kitchen in the vestibule and was able to do my cooking in from the weather. I still think it is a bit pricey, however after using it, it works well and I'm happy with my purchase."

Adds a lot of room,June 30, 2009
By MojoJojofrom Bel Air, MD
"The vestibule has a couple of windows on the side and adds a lot of outdoor space to the tent. You can fit a couple of camp chairs in there no problem. It's like having a mudroom for your tent - great place to leave shoes, packs, wet bathing suits, wood for the stove, etc..."

Alaknak II Vestibule,March 26, 2009
By Aultmannfrom Oconomowoc, WI
"The vestibule worked well and provided a functional space for a mudroom, food storage, spare firewood, etc. Keeps the tent a lot cleaner and lest cluttered. The only issue was that during setup it was difficult to orient the vestibule correctly and find the clip that attaches to the tent opening pole. Maybe that was just me. No problems after that was resolved. Heavy rainfall did not intrude at the vestibule/tent joint. Have not used this setup in warm weather, so cannot comment on that. All in all a very useful and worthwhile accessory for the Alaknak II tent."

Good Product,November 17, 2008
By Anonymousfrom New Brunswick
"This is a necessary addition to our 12 X 20 tent. We moved our coolers and kitchen gear into the vestibule which left the main tent cleaner. We will add another vestibule next year for our gear. Two points I would like to make. The usable size is not the footprint size so don't expect 8 x 12 to work with. The zippers are difficult for a tent full of old men to use continuously."

Good but it could be better !,October 14, 2008
By Golfrichvfrom Tualatin, OR an active sportsman
"I just returned from a 10 day Mule Deer hunting in Eastern OR. I have an Alaknak 12 x 12 tent and bought the vestibule right before I left. It was no big deal in putting it up but I printed the instrctions prior to leaving. Before putting it up we laid down a trap and this may have been the root cause of a problem. During a heavy rain storm the water ran off of the Vestibule onto the trap and ultimately back into the Vestibule. For two days we waded through an inch of water to get into the tent. We finally pulled the ends to the tarp inside the Vestibule but by that time it was ugly. It puzzles me that some reviews talk about staying dry and taking off your boots in the Vestibule. True, you will stay dry because it is like a mini tent but the floor is another question. This thing has no floor so when it rains water runs along the ground and into the Vestibule, so you mud outside and inside the Vestibule. I think it needs a sewn in floor just to keep the ground water out. That's what I know about the Vestibule."

Elbow Space,October 1, 2008
By MudFreefrom Flagstaff, AZ
"I purchased a 12 x 12 Alaknak tent a year ago. I am very pleased with the tent but there is no room for taking off my muddy boots or soaked clothing without getting it all over the inside of the tent. This vestibule is easy to set up other than the bottom straps that attach to the tent, (a little confusing), and is made with the same material as the tent. As a big game guide I need products that can weather anything mother nature can throw at it, and this vesibule rates up there with the rest of my equipment. Now the mud stays outside!"

Needs two more poles,July 22, 2008
By Schoettgenfrom High Sierras
"This is a Very good addition to the Alaknak. Good place to take off the boots, stack wood, cook, etc... and I was pleasantly surprised that it had a sewn in sod cloth. The only things I would add are a couple of adjustable poles to hold the door up and open, rather than just rolling it up. That would add a little extra shade in warm weather and would have gotten the vestible 5 stars rather than 4. I would also sew a hook or two, into the top so there would be a place to hang an electric lantern or light."

Great Addition to the Alaknak,April 30, 2008
By FishtheMittenfrom Chesterfield, MI
"I purchased the Vestibule the same time I bought the Alaknak tent and man was it worth it. It really came in handy for storing all of our gear without having to take up tent space or leaving it out in the open. It also served as a great mud room which provided shelter from cold winds when changing in and out of waders or muddy boots. I recommend getting a floor mat to put inside the vestibule so that when you do take of your gear you have a place to step on without getting your socks wet or dirty."

Instructions,April 7, 2008
By WoodyBoyfrom Lander, WY
"The vestibule really needs instructions. It does not have them. While it works and appears to be attached fine, the junction to the tent is cumbersome and confusing. Don't think you can set this up in a jiffy in a storm and attach it to the tent with out scratching your head a bit. And I've set up a lot of tents."

THE PERFECT ADD ON,April 7, 2008
By JKP1from Monroe, LA
"I've got the Alaknak 12x20 and purchased a vestibule with the tent. After seeing how extremely useful the first one was I HAD to have the second one. Super simple to set up too. No floor but no problem. We cover the bottom with indoor/outdoor carpet. There are just too many uses for it. It's always nice to have a dry place to take off the muddy boots without standing in the rain or having to track the mud in the tent. We keep our firewood, ice chests, totes, and just about anything else you can think you might need without having to store it in the tent itself while still be able to get things without having to get out in bad weather. I bought the second one mainly to set up a camp bath/change area that would afford some privacy. It also doubles as another place to put a cot for the big crowds. Haven't had to use it yet. We sleep 6 COMFORTABLY in the main tent itself. If I had $1 for everybody that has come for the "tour" I could have paid for the whole setup. A little extra room is nice but with the size of the vestibule a whole lot of room is great. JKP Monroe, La."

VESTIBULE,January 8, 2008
By COWBOYV10from Last Chance, Colorado
"I would recomend to anyone buying an Alaknak tent to consider the vestibule. It is a great place to store coolers, fire wood, tack or any other gear that needs to be handy but not in the way. It is nice to have the extra room for gear that you want to keep dry and not covered in snow."

Perfect Investment to Upgrade for Space,December 3, 2007
By Aristarchusfrom Renton, WA
"As if you need more space with the 12x20 Alaknak... After 4 camp outs with my 12x20, I finally was able to use my Vestibule and wish I would have used it earlier. I found it perfect for my folding camp kitchen table and all of my gear that I did not want to stow inside the sleeping area (chairs, Zodi Shower, stove, etc). The ground tabs are color coded (Blue) and the attachment mechanisms are fine quality and work well. The zipper down mesh windows were great when I cooked in the vestibule. The poles spring together, no fuss. The front flap was a nice porch cover that I used two poles to secure out from the vestibule when the weather was nice. A little practice at putting it together will make you an expert. Here's where it payed off - the last day of camp was pouring cold rain and dark. While breaking camp, we took all our gear, cots, equipment, stow bins and stowed it in the vestibule and brought down the tent and allowed the vestibule to free stand, keeping our gear dry until we could back the truck in and load. We didn't lose a thing, it was all in one place - NICE. I want another one to add to the other end of the tent to make this a 3 room monster. People love to take tours already in the thing, mind as well add another room. Don't put a wood stove in it though, use the Big Buddy with a propane tank, Toasty. Cheers!"

ALAKENAK VESTIBULE,November 12, 2007
By BRIANINMINNfrom st cloud, minnesota
"this is a very nice addition to our alakenak 2 tent. we have the 12'x20' size and have deer hunted from it for the last 5 years, and it is great. this year we decided to put the vestibule on it. once we got it on the tent, it did everything we expected it to. it added alot of extra room and helped to hold in heat. what we did not expect was the difficulty that we had in putting it up. it honestly took longer to put up the vestibule than it did the rest of the tent, and the directions where useless. i think that there should be a seperate sheet that has more detail than that piece of paper sewed to the inside of the bag. one thing that i would suggest to someone putting this up for the first time would be get the thing set up, then zip the door closed, and then put the stakes in. otherwise it is too easy to have it stretched too tight and not be able to zip both sides down all the way. this is a nice product, and we do really like it, but better directions would be good."
