Alaknak Roof Panel Protector,

"Used this for a week in Northern Ontario, Canada. Mostly used poplar and some hardwood. Although I didn't use woods that continually spark (pine, spruce, cedar), the panel seems well thought out and should protect the tent when using those other woods. Easy to clip on."

"This product did exactly as advertised. The only complaint is that it should be bigger. The first time I used my tent I recieved a few ember holes just outside the area covered by the protector."

"The product fits well, and installs easily. I can’t imagine not having one with a wood stove, it’s cheap insurance. Fortunately I see no signs that I needed it yet, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before I will need it."

"I've used the roof panel protector since 1999 when I first bought my Alaknak II 12x12 Tent for Colorado Elk/Deer and Fishing camp. It works well and has been bulletproof even with lots of hot embers landing on it from the wood stove inside the tent. The only problem I had was related to the hot stove pipe touching the rolled up zippered stove jack material and melting the material and zipper... It was my fault and not any problem related to design or tent material quality... I now use a square metal stove pipe flashing similar to what is typically used on a house roof to make sure the material from the roof panel protector doesn't come into contact with a hot stover pipe..."

"This is a MUST have if you put a stove in your tent, it's probably the only thing that saved my tent from a faulty stove pipe that came apart and fell onto my tent. It was also easy to set up."

Needs some improvement,

"I would recommend the roof panel protector to anyone who plans on using a wood burning stove in their tent but it dose need some improvements. It was real hard to adjust and didn't fit as well as it should have. As far as protecting the tent it did but not good enough. It had many holes burnt in the protector but only one of them actually went all the way through the tent. I think that it could be a lot bigger. It would have been a lot worse without it though."

"The roof panel is a must have, But it needs to be wider. I used it on a new tent this year and the first time out we got burn holes just 6 inches from the panel. Please make it wider."

"It took a moment or two to figure out how it attached when setting up, but once that was out of the way it performed flawlessly. It kept the tent roof clean and was easy to clean itself using just a wet towel on the end of a broom when it was time to go."

"This product is absolutely fabulous! Along with the other parts for the tent I purchased, this one is a great one to have. It protects the tent from any kind of weather that might damage a regular tent. I have only used this tent once up in the Rocky Mountains, but I plan to get my moneys worth out of it and enjoy it for more years to come. The vestibule, the floor liner, and the roof panel protector are great must-have extras for the Cabela's Deluxe Alaknak II tent. I think the roof panel protector is a great feature for the tent, and if I ever want to purchase another tent, I will make sure they have the roof protector, the vestibule, and the floor liner, or else I will not purchase the tent, because I love these great features Cabelas has to offer. Thank You!"

"After a 10 day hunting trip in Wyoming... we had the stove going most of the time... with the wind, rain and snow we had NO burns or any marks on the roof top of the tent. The panel protector is easy to install on the tent before you set it up. With the easy buckles and ties it can be as snug as you want it to be. We had no worries with the panel. It is a must have to protect your investment for years of enjoyment."
