Great Looking Decoys for a Great Price,
November 9, 2009
By WhackerOfQuackers

"This was my first time buying GHG decoys, have heard great things about them from friends. I must say, I am rather impressed at the appearance and durability that GHG carries. Bought these deeks (2 dozen Green Teal) about a month ago. Left them in the water for 3-5 days on a slough with temperatures ranging from 40s-80s. Paint is holding up and they work great with my Texas Riggin' set up. Will definitely replace mallard deeks with GHG mallards when they are worn out. I am definitely sticking with GHG decoys from now on!
Oh yeah, I was also glad to see that GHG has provided a number of holes on the bottom of the decoy for practically any kind of weight set-up. I use a Texas Riggin' on my deeks and didn't have to drill a hole because they are already provided. Just something else to consider when buying decoys such that drilling a hole sometimes cracks the decoy itself."

Wood Duck Decoys..,
October 26, 2009
By RJMJR
from Baltimore
|
"The Wood Duck decoys are very realistic but I think the keels need more weight. In particular the drake "alert/head up" decoy seems to be a bit top heavy. I hunted over them on a pond in Fairlee, MD and the "alert" drakes kept tipping over on their side due to high winds. All the rest of the decoys (resters, relaxed style) were fine since they have a lower center of gravity. I have never seen a decoy blow over while it is anchored. Again, if the keels had a bit more weight it may solve the issue. Other than being a bit underweighted, I think they are a handsome set to add to your collection and they did and will attract other Wood Ducks.
Talk soon, RJM"

wood ducks are top heavy,

"i just purchased a half dozen ghg wood duck decoys (not from cabelas, though). they look fantastic but the active head wood duck drakes are top heavy. when i threw them in the water they did not right themselves. opening day was windy and rainy and they kept blowing over so eventually i just put them both on weed clumps out of the water. i plan on taking some old lead weights and rigging them to the keel and that should solve the problem. just something to think about when ordering these."

"These deeks are awesome in appearance!! Head's went on easy, for those having an issue with paint get a can of Satin finish polyurathane and spray the whole decoy. When it dries they look as they did when you got'em plus the paint will remain on'em"

"I just set out these teal and widgon decoys. They look so real. The different head positions are also much better than the standard up and forward looking decoys.I will write back at the end of the season to let you know how the paint holds up. 5 stars for now."

Mallard Teal and Widgeon,
September 10, 2009
By Fowlkiller
from Oregon
|
"The widgeon look great and paint was good. The teal look good but the paint is average at best. Lots of missed spots and overspray. The mallards look good, good carving, good paint job. But the ones that need the head attached are a problem. Could not get the heads to go on, and once on, they would not stay. Poor design."
