"Got the first camera and it had a cable that was cut just a few feet from the camers, got the second camera and the battery failed. Once I got another battery camera finally worked but the camera fogged in the summer. The extra shipping charges make the unit expensive. And you can't get repalcement parts if you wanted them better off buying a fish finder. Does not work good in water with natural food presant."

Advanced Anglers Panning Camera,April 1, 2009
By Paunchofrom Northern Michigan
"View is limited ( lights?) to a few feet and somewhat distorted(glass enclosure?). Remote stopped working first time out. There is a natural tendency to use the cover handle to move unit while in use. When doing this, the unit tends to pop out of the case. Restraints should be incorporated."

Moniter goes bad after a few uses!!,March 25, 2009
By antelopehunterfrom South Dakota
"I, like so many others on this review page, had the moniter go bad after only a few times of use. The battery has no good place to be put and will fall out, onto the ice, if your not super careful! This product just isn't a quality item. It definately needs to be re-engineered to be a marketable product."

great buy,March 9, 2009
By imkellerfrom neillsville wisconsin
"for the money this camera is just the thing. I even used it to find a lost anchor and it worked. The picture is a little hard to see in bright sunlite but even the very best camera has that problem. I would recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a camera with a good price."

Excellent,February 25, 2009
By NDaveHfrom Gilmanton New Hampshire
"I think this item was an excellent purchase. I have used the whole day on the ice From sun up till sun down and it lasts about 1.5 days on one charge. Very clear picture (with the understanding that the water has to be clear) The only thing i could say about it that i wish was diffrent was i wish the camera was heavier to bring it to the bottom faster and straighten out the cord more. Other than that i love fishing with it."

"FUZZY IMAGE" ADVANCE ANGLERS PANNING CAMERA,February 11, 2009
By WIRJSfrom STURGEON BAY, WI
"MUCH TO MY DISAPPOINTMENT, THIS CAMERA WORKED PERFECTLY ABOVE WATER, BUT ONCE CALIBRATED BELOW THE WATER SURFACE, THE IMAGE WENT "FUZZY"! CABELA'S GENEROUSLY SUPPLIED A REPLACEMENT, AND PROMISED TO PASS ON THE INFO TO THEIR TECH. DEPT.. BUT THE REPLACEMENT CAMERA HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PANNING FEATURE IS FINE, BUT YOU CAN'T ANGLE UP OR DOWN, LIKE YOU CAN ON THE MANUAL ADVANCED ANGLERS CAMERA. ALSO, THE MANUAL CAMERA HAS A MUCH CLEARER IMAGE, AND ALLOWS ME TO SEE FISH AS FAR AWAY AS 35-40 FEET, WHILE THE "FUZZY" CAMERA ONLY LETS ME SEE ABOUT 6-8 FEET. THERE IS NO COMPARISON...BUY THE MANUAL CAMERA, AND TWIST THE CABLE TO ALIGN THE CAMERA, SPEND YOUR SAVINGS ON OTHER FISHING EQUIPMENT FROM CABEL'S!!!! I HAD AN AQUA VIEW CAMERA FROM CABELA'S, WHICH I HAVE GIVEN AWAY, THAT WAS "OK". MY MANUAL ADVANCED ANGLERS CAMERA IS 10 TIMES AS GOOD AS THE AQUA VIEW, AND THE PANNING CAMERA WAS 5 TIMES WORSE THAN THE AQUA VIEW. ALL PANNING CAMERA WERE RETURNED, AND I AM HAPPY SO FAR WITH MY ADVANCED ANGLERS MANUAL CAMERA. IT MAKES ME AND MY BUDDIES WHO HAVE THE SAME CAMERA BETTER FISHERMEN, OFTEN CATCHING OUR LIMITS OF LAKE MICHIGAN WHITEFISH . THANKS FOR THE GOOD PRODUCT (MANUAL CAMERA)."

bad camera,February 10, 2009
By pdblafrom Oconomowoc, WI
"the first time out in a very clear lake i found the maximum distance for viewing with the infra=red on was about 4 feet. the second time out, the on screen indicator for degrees of turning would not work and the maximum distance for veiwing was about one foot. the third time out, the camera turned, no light and no screen at all. kind of depressing as i was on a fishing vacation. camera goes back today. I hope the replacement one works."

Under water camera/panning,February 9, 2009
By kalifrom Kaukauna, WI
"I tried the camera and it worked great when it was light outside, but when it got dark I turned the LED on for night vision and I could not see anything but bubbles. I then returned it and purchased the 5in w/out the panning and the monitor was damaged when I opened the box. So I can not give a honest remark on how it would have worked. I am going to return it."

basically a good product - needs lighting option,February 8, 2009
By fixnjimfrom Eden Prarie, MN
"I and my friends enjoy this camera immensely. The only drawback is that the lighting is infrared only, it should have a full spectrum light option. The infrared is almost useless after dark as it picks up the plankton and other objects nearby and hides the fish behind them. Other than that, the camera is a joy to work with."

Panning Camera,February 5, 2009
By Anonymousfrom Colorado Springs, CO
"I purchased the camera to use while Ice Fishing. I have only use my camera once, but I was extremely pleased with the performance. I have used others and was not that pleased. The image was very clear while the water was not. The panning feature was well worth the extra $. I could pan the view to watch my bait and follow fish."

Advanced Anglers Panning Camera,February 4, 2009
By Fhisher
"When the TV actually worked which it did for about three hours then the TV started to flicker. I thought that the battery was low so after fishing I went home and charge the battery for eighteen hours and tried the camera again and the screen started flickering right away! I adjusted all the adjustments on the TV and it wouldn't stop then I returned the camera."

First time out I never got to use it because my wife wouldnt share. But from were I was sitting everything looked like it was a go!! She had no problems getting everything tuned, and even caught some fish. Monitor was very clear with a little adjusting and remote worked great. Next time shes stayin home so I can use it!!!"

It leaks,January 27, 2009
By dontildusk
"I received the Cabelas panning camera for Christmas and was very excited to try it out. I planned to use it off my boat in lakes to check out underwater structure for largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing and to watch kokanee chase and hit my trolled lures at 60 feet down (like in the youtube videos). When I tried it for the first time I could see the bottom detail very well but after a couple minutes the picture became distorted and fuzzy. When I brought the camera aboard, I realized there was condensation built up inside the camera unit. The camera leaked. I called Cabelas and they were very gracious about exchanging it and sending me a new one quickly. Excellent customer service! I'm hoping the next one will work properly. I will report back when I've tried out the new one."

Alot to be desired,January 14, 2009
By Anonymousfrom pittsburgh PA ice fisherman
"The best thing about this camera is the built in panning, unfortunately there are lot of things wrong that don’t make up for this feature. The directions were a bit vague, they put a hole in the bottom of the bag for the cords but when you set the cam on the ice if any water is also on top of the ice it goes threw the hole and into the camera, it happened to me and it shut off. The screen is distorted and very unclear I could barely see my jig. They need to go back to the drawing board, and cabelas put their name on it! Not a happy customer going back tonight."
