2400 generator,September 30, 2009
By hevykevyfrom stillwater minnesota
"This is a very high quality well built generator. It's about as loud as my wifes sewing machine. The first time I used it camping, my wife and I were sitting in lawn chairs outside the camper and talking in a normal volume with the generator running just 7 feet away. Amazingly quiet. It starts with one pull every time. In fact most of the time a half pull on the cord will start it. Very good on gas. Only complaint is the price, which is awfully high. Runs everything in my 20 foot camper except the air conditioning. I expected that because the AC owners manual says you need min of 3500 watts."

"This is a very nice generator that starts first time every time and is very quiet. However, it does not have the capacity to start my 8000 series (13,500 btu) RV Products roof top air conditioner."

Pleasantly surprised,September 10, 2009
By Leofrom Klamath Falls, Oregon
"The generator did everything I had heard of. It runs the big A/C on my 30' travel trailer and just sits and purrs. I was going to buy the 3000 but this is just as good, less weight and saved 800.00."

Very Nice Generator,July 20, 2009
By ShglSprngsfrom Shingle Springs, CA
"So far so good. I ordered the Yamaha 2400is on a Monday and it arrived on Friday. Added oil and gas and it started right up on second pull. It handled my trailer AC and microwave just fine, separately. Nice and compact and quite! Plus no state sales tax ordering through Cabela's."

When we needed it most.,July 14, 2009
By Motorad1960from Southern NH
"I bought this unit (1000W) last summer for lighting and charging at various off sight projects. It worked out fine for that and I put it away for the winter. Last December we had an ice storm that left us without power for 12 days. Average temp during that time was around 15F. I have an 8000W so we were all set. My elderly neighbor (with 5 cats) had nothing but candles. This unit powered her furnace, TV and a few lights. She and the cats were able to stay in the house the entire time."

2400 not quite as advertised,June 30, 2009
By kansasbuckhunterfrom Kansas
"I bought the Yamaha 2400 to run my pop up camper's 13,500 BTU AC. Most all descriptions I read on the 2400 said it would run most 2400 AC's. Apparently most did not included a 2008 Carrier AirV. Even will everything else off in the camper it would not start the AC. I have the 3000 on the way now. It should run it good. We will see."

EF2400is,June 22, 2009
By HorseCamper2from Iowa
"I wanted a generator to run the air in our horse trailer. We have a standard 13.5K btu air unit, new in '03. I picked this generator because it was small enough to pick up and set in my truck by myself and it was 800 less then the EF3000. It will run the air, lights, and TV at the same time. Have to shut the air off to run the microwave. We have about 15 hours on it so far. It has started with 1 pull every time and its very quiet. If you have the money and portability isn't an issue go with the 3000. But I am very happy with this one for what we use it for."

EF3000 lemon,June 20, 2009
By jeb111from Roger, AR
"I have an earlier review in this section on the EF2400 I bought in July/07. Great little generator that some friends now own. I decided to upgrade to the 3000 for the additional power and fuel capacity. Bought it at a Cabela's in MN while visiting there in late 08.
Fired it up when we got home to NW Ark and it smoked a fair amount right away, but then cleared up. Quite shocking as the 2400 never did that. I thought "well, breaking in, maybe some oil left from factory". But it continued to do that so I took it in to the local Yamaha dealer.
Long story short, after 2 times in the shop and 7+ weeks of combined down time (parts backordered), there was a small hole in the cyl wall casting. It became more obvious after they bored the cyl for an oversized piston. So I got basically a new motor (which is a good thing since it was a new generator!).
Very disappointing in what is suppose to be a high end, quality unit. It's been running okay since the 2nd rebuild/new casting, but it has sure left a sour taste in my mouth about this product."

Yamaha 2400 watt portable generator,May 26, 2009
By Anonymousfrom Lake Stevens, WA
"Took it out of the box, added oil and gas, then gave the starter cord a tug... started easily on the first pull!. runs very quiet and even runs my A/C unit on my travel trailer. Nice looking unit, but was larger than the pictures made it seem. Pretty heavy too. but, I guess that will be ok as I don't have to pack it very far when I use it. Seems to be a well engineered piece of equipment. Hope it lasts a long time."

Yamaha 2400 Generator,May 24, 2009
By Mootretfrom CA
"Just the right size generator. I had to install a Hard start kit, just a capacitor from camping world, and it ran my A/C. so now I have a generator that runs everything in my RV and i can lift it without getting hurt. Awesome. This gen is simple and well built. also it's easy to get the panels off and also oil changes a re simple with the drain plug. My old honda din't have one."

Yamaha2400,May 5, 2009
By NorColoradocamperfrom Fort Collins, Colorado
"This review is a bit premature since the proof is in the camping pudding and I haven't gone camping yet. But, I can say I received the generator in good shape delivered by UPS. I put oil and gas in it as recommended...pulled the crank twice and the little puppy started right up. I hooked it up to my 23 foot trailer and everything powered up easily. I am especially impressed with how quiet the 2400 is."

Awesome,May 2, 2009
By bjerenofrom Logan, UT
"After doing tons of looking, reading reviews etc. I decided to buy the Yamaha 2400 to use on our R/V trips. I live in Utah, most of the time I don't need to run A/C but when I need to it sure comes in nice. Unit has to work fairly hard to do it, but for a couple of hours a day it does great. It purrs like a kitten. I pulled it out the other day and it started on the first pull. I had not used it during the winter months. Great Generator, glad I settled on this one."

Awesome little gen,March 23, 2009
By SluggozJeepfrom SoCal HiDesert
"As reviewed, this is a great little generator that I use in my pop up for dry camping. Might upgrade to the 2400 at some point to run the A/C during hot weather when we camp were there's no shore power. Great bargain, and reliable!"

Awesome!,January 27, 2009
By Anonymousfrom Colorado
"Simply put, this generator is awesome... It is quiet and provides enough power for my needs. It wont run a big AC unit but it surely delivers the juice.
We recently had a 4 hour power outtage and I got to put it to the test. I ran a power cord from the generator sitting outside and in to my house. I plugged in my 55 inch TV, Stereo receiver, DVD player and Digital cable box. I plugged in several lights to keep the house lit up... No problems at all. We watched movies until the power came back on. I bought the generator for camping but this little test proved that it is more than I need when in the woods. While having my gear plugged in it ramped up a little but was quiet enough not to disturb my neighbors.
I highly recommend this generator. Get the bigger unit if you have more power needs, obviously."

Great Generator!!,January 6, 2009
By Randy1312from Huntington Beach, CA
"Received my generator in perfect condition. It was well packed (read a review that someone else had an issue with shipping damage) and was very easy to set up. The start up procedure is simple to follow in the instructions. Have used the generator on a couple occasions (about 4 hours each time). Easy to start and amazingly QUIET (running in economy mode)!!! Used at a football tailgate and had several people come up to me and comment how surprised they were that it was so quitet! I haven't pushed the 1000 watt rating yet, but I can't imagine any issues. My only improvement suggestion to Yamaha was to make the oil filling process easier. They provide a funnel (of sorts), but it is a bit difficult to gauge a proper fill without overfilling. Just have to add slowly. Overall, it far exceeds my expectations."

Very Quiet,December 24, 2008
By hmmhfrom Houston, TX
"As mentioned in other reviews, filling the generator with oil without spilling even with a funnel and a piece of hose is difficult because the full-level is the overflow level. I checked out on the driveway how much it can handle and it was running a 950W coffe machine and a 1500W hairdryer with the overload light on for a minute, but without cutting off."
