"I do not have large calf muscles I would say they are about average. I could not pull these socks over my calf muscles. I thought maybe they were just sized small so I ordered another pair in XL and they were tighter than the Large ones I received first."

"I have wide calfs and all of the other Ultimax socks I bought stretched enough to be comfortable so I was hoping these would be the same. However, these are VERY tight at the calf area and I probably won't wear them because of it. SORRY!"

"These are not meant for real cold weather. I wore them in a pair of bogs insulated rubber boot at 15 degree's and my feet were cold. The material is soft and feels good on your feet. They fit tight on the calf's."

"I really like the way these socks feel, but I can't get them all the way on. I got the XL size because I wear a 13 shoe or boot. I guess my calves are too big because I couldn't get them up. The band around the top of the socks to keep them up just isn't big enough. I got the tall ones to wear in my rubber boots so my feet wouldn't sweat so much, but I will have to try another pair. They were really comfortable on my feet but I gave them to my dad. Good Luck!"

"JUST GOT BACK FROM A ELK BOW HUNT IN CO.. THESE SOCKS WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT EXCEPT THE ELASTIC AT THE TOP WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH. THEY WERE VERY TIGHT AT THE TOP MAKING THEM VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. Great and yet uncomfortable at the same time,March 8, 2008

"I love these socks and hate them at the same time. Love them because the soles and foot/ankle area are shaped perfectly, are extreemely comfortable, do a fantastic job of wicking away sweat and keeping my feet at the right tempurature whether it's warm or cold outside.
I hate them because the opeining of the sock is far too small for even a person with normal calf size. I have calfs that are only 15 1/2 " at 13" above my ankle . The first time I wore these socks they cut off my circulation to the point I had to take them off after 3 hours and they left marks in my upper calf muscles that were sore for two days. Manual strecthing and washing did not help. I am now wearing them rolled back down to about six inches above my ankel, which really defeats the purpose of buying a 16" boot sock."

"Putting aside that I paid $20.00 for a pair of socks which included shipping and handling (had a gift card to use), they are some great socks. These are the first pair of sock that I have purchased that does not slide down. They are tight, almost feel like medical stockings. They are fairly thin, not thick like a wool sock, but keep your feet nice and toasty. I have not worn them in extreme cold weather, but the 20 degrees we have had here, they work just fine."
