Trailhiker II,October 31, 2009
By StormTrooperfrom Madison, WI
"I have bought at least 15 pair of Trailhiker pants over the last 15 or so years and was very disappointed with the Trailhiker II replacements. I miss the depth of the pockets, the "D" ring for keys and the knife pocket which is perfect for a cell phone. I don't know why the changes were made but they make the new style a disappointment."

Out of Luck,October 31, 2009
By kwcfrom Oklahoma City, OK
"I have several pair of the old version of the trailhiker and love them. I wear them all the time. I was eager to buy the trailhiker II, but Cabela's follows the conventional wisdom of all the other retailers. They think that anyone over a 40 inch waste has 30 to 32 inch legs. Woe to the 40 incher with a 34 or 36 inch inseam who puts on a little weight. He is out of luck. Who knew all fat people were short? I unfortunately can not purchase the new version without losing 30 lbs or more.
Please bring back the unhemmed pants."

Trail Hiker Pants,October 13, 2009
By Colorado4570from Colorado
"This is my first experience with the trailhiker pants. I believe for my needs they will do the job nicely. I believe the new model would work even better however my size has been eliminated (35-32). I also think the width of the legs could be reduced by at least an inch so they don't look like you're wearing sacks attached to your waste. This would still allow for plenty of freedom to move around in them and look better in terms of fit."

Change is 7 Pocket Construction,October 10, 2009
By IrrigationTechnicianfrom San Francisco, CA
"I have been buying the Cabela's Trailhiker pants as well as the Nailhead Trailhiker pants for the last 3 years. I have probably purchased over 30 pairs of the trailhiker pants as I wear through them rather quickly out in the field. One of the pockets I have always counted on was the small leatherman tool pocket over the right leg cargo pocket. For me, this is an essential pocket as I always carry it around with me in the field. I have tried putting the tool in the cargo pockets, or regular hand pockets, but I either get bruised, or the pocket rips through too quickly. But with this new Trailhiker II pant, that 7th pocket is now inside of one of the cargo pockets. I do agree that the construction of the pant is more rugged, something that was needed, but why change the pocket orientation when it was fine to begin with."

Best Fit Ever,September 10, 2009
By Anonymousfrom Shenandoah Valley, VA
"I don't go out of the box much in the type of pants I order but my wife liked the looks of these and ordered them for me. I love the colors, the style and the fit is better than you hope for. I appreciate the reinforcement in the stress points on the pockets and the back at the bottom of the legs where you always seem to wear them out first. Great Job!!"

Trail HikerII Pants,September 1, 2009
By Brenda66from Bristol, VA
"Great pants! I have a hard time finding pants to fit my husband. He has lost 30 pounds and his waist is smaller now. He absolutly loves these pants and will wear nothing else. The price that you sell them for is unbelieveable. You can not find pants like theses at any mall. He needs more pants like theses and will buy them from Cabela's.
Great product and great price!"

"I bought two pairs of these pants and find them outstanding. I had several pairs of the original trailhiker pants and find that these are a huge improvement. the additional fabric and pocket enhancements make these an exceptional pair of pairs for work and business casual. Thank you Cabelas!"

pretty good pants,August 15, 2009
By Bogmanfrom California
"I think these pants are very well made and good value. I would have given 5 stars, but I think the main pockets in front should be another inch deeper. It's too easy for things to fall out of the pockets if you sit in a low chair, as can happen when you are traveling in unusual places. I bought these for travel, and I worry because I have lost things out of too shallow of pockets."

Over-improvement,August 3, 2009
By GratefulHunter
"The pants seem to be great just like the previous version. However, the segemented cargo pocket on the Right leg is not an improvement in my mind. The partition gets in the way when you are trying to put items into your pocket or retreive them from your pocket. Love the pants but the segmented cargo pocket is a good idea gone bad."

Trailhiker II,July 24, 2009
By LeonardMfrom Fayetteville, NC
"These pants that I think are to replace the original Trailhiker Pants are not as good as the originals. The phone pocket on the originals was a extremely handy accessory. The interior "replacement pocket" on the Trailhiker II does not offer the convenience of the original. I will be purchasing the 5.11 Trouser because they still offer the phone pocket and I feel will provide the convenience I enjoyed from your original Trailhiker Pants. I have a nunber of pairs of the original and I am sorry to see them leave your line."

Lost in the improvement,July 21, 2009
By Putsiefrom Manassas, Va.
"I have bought my husband aprox. 5 to 6 original Trail Hikers a year for many years. This was a great product. But the quality of the seams and material went down the past year or so. You have now listen to your customers input and made improvements, but lost something in doing so. You no longer offer his size. He's tall and thin, 32" waist, 36" inseam. I would still recommend the new product, but there are a lot of tall thin guys out there that won't be buying it. Please consider them as customers you could win back. Thanks for listening."

5 for the Effort!,July 19, 2009
By johninnowoodsfrom Northern Wisconsin
"I cringe nowadays when I see "new and improved" on any of my old favorite outdoor clothing. It usually means they've either: 1. made it cheaper to hold some price-point, or 2. turned it into some sort of fashion garment.
Not the case with the Trailhiker II pants. Cabela's have taken a good product and made it a better product. The material is reasonably thick cloth...probably a good balance between weight and durability. The knee patches actually protect the knees. Cargo pockets are a good size and feature "hook and loop" instead of buttons. The whole thing fits me well and feels comfy, right from the the get-go.
Are they perfect? No. But, most of my complaints are personal points. Like, the pockets could be deeper and I'd rather have a gusseted crotch and thicker material. And, what's with those reinforced cuff heels? By the time I wear out the cuffs on any pants, the rest of the garmment is ready for the "rag-bag."
Thanks Cabela's for resisting the urge to turn an old favorite into a pair of "mall fashion pants." The price has slipped up, but the overall product is worth the money. Nowadays, that a rare and valuable thing."
