800 Mag Second Chance,September 16, 2009
By radioduckfrom Loacted in eastern CT.
"Picked up an 800 Mag at the Cabelas in our state early August based on recommendations and reviews on the internet. Had trouble trying to sight it and get a decent group, windage was adjusted all the way to the right and elevation screw was just about out of threads and still not where I thought it should be. Had a very rough feeling when cocking. Tried several different weights of premimum pellets no difference. The 3rd week took it out to shoot, pulled the trigger and a very different sound came from the gun as I cocked it for the next shot the lower portion broke away from the gun. Took it back to Cabelas and showed them, they gladly exchanged for a new pistol. The following day I took the new 800 Mag out to test fire at 10 meters. Right out of the box fired 4 shots and couldn't see any holes in target. As I approached the target I couldn,t believe that all 4 shots were grouped in the 9 & 10 rings. Took a few shots out at 20 meters with same terrific performance. VERY VERY Pleased with our second 800 Mag, Cabelas was very helpful."

Happy with the product,August 10, 2009

"I am very happy with the product that I purchased from you all. The accuracy of it is unbelieveable. From a bench rest it can put the pellets(rws) on top of each other in the target. It will also penatrate a phone book over an inch deep."

Browning 800 Mag Air Pistol,July 10, 2009
By noctournalradtechfrom West Virginia
"The Pros first....this is a massive gun. The sights are very good, the fit and finish are great. It weighs a ton and not that this is a bad thing. I'll get to that last. It's everything I've been looking for, I just didn't think until recently to look at Cabela's for it. There were 2 choices. This was the 'less expensive' of the 2. But the Browning name won me over. In the illustrations, they looked almost identical. Getting back to the weight...as is my experience with Browning as I have a Challenger II 22LR, it is, sadly, underbalanced as most of the weight is in the grip half of the pistol.....meaning it's too light in the barrel end. If you're trying to hold on a target, freehanded, you'll need a rest, otherwise you'll waiver. Also, there's a lot of "creep" in the trigger, and I know it's not a match grade pistol, but it still pulls you off to the right. I've been shooting it for about 3 weeks now and if I had to shoot a bird or whatever, I'd be lucky to hit it. Last evening I set up a target at about 25 feet to fine tune the sights which are good for windage and elevation, I was shooting about 8 inches low, to which I adjusted the sights screw until I was almost there, and then the screw let loose and the rear sight popped loose and I almost lost the spring. So for the money it's a nice piece and I haven't yet tried it out farther as it might shoot flatter, but i'm having trouble sighting it in up close. And the only OTHER thing I have a problem with is, it'd be a lot better if it was 22 cal, instead of 177. I'd gladly sacrifice 100fps for the larger caliber. With an (approx) 7 inch rifled barrel, it'd still be worth the cost and weight. It's like choosing between an 22 cal and a 357 cal. But all in all, it's pretty much what I thought I was buying. PS.....they supply a plastic sleeve that fits over the muzzle to facilitate the barrel cocking....for 2 reasons. One, you couldn't get the leverage without it and Two, you'd be putting weight on the front sight, which would break it the first day. If I could make a suggestion to Browning, since the gun is so massive, just make the "attachment" to stay on the gun. As it is, after you cock the barrel, if you point the gun down, it falls off. I'd much rather see the thing as a "muzzle break"/grip/asethetic addition that STICKS, as opposed to what it is. I'm a little let down but it's a lot better than what I had. The gun definitely has some umph. Just some room for improvement. Thanks for this opportunity. dh"
