Very Nice Starter Bow,

"I purchased this bow for my eight-year old son after he displayed a strong interest in archery at a local 4H event. His first bow was a cheap fiberglass recurve -- more suited to increasing frustration than teaching real skills.
The Micro Midas is without a doubt a real compound bow, not a toy. The bow itself is as high quality as one would expect in an adult bow. Fit and finish are very nice, and the design is smooth-drawing and forgiving.
The pro at my local archery shop assured me that availability of limbs should be good for a few years at least, so when my son outgrows the 20-30lb limbs, we can substitute the heavier ones. I expect he will be shooting it into his teens.
The accessories in the RTS package are not fancy, but of good quality. The sight is a PSE three pin with basic adjustments. The Whisker Biscuit rest is very secure and ideally suited for a young shooter. The quiver works nicely. We found that a different peep was necessary for my son to shoot happily, but this was a matter of personal preference.
My only criticism is of the included arrows. Do yourself a favor and purchase better ones. The solid glass arrows included are extremely heavy, and will not shoot accurately or proficiently. The nocks are so tight as to make placement on the string a chore for young hands. The points are glued on, and are blunt.
This is a fairly minor point. No adult archer would consider a one size-fits-all arrow "ready to shoot." We purchased a half-dozen ICS Hunter Junior carbon arrows at our local pro shop, and have been very pleased with them: they are "real arrows," as my son says.
Practically every evening, my son wants to stop at the indoor range after school and practice. When weather permits, he's in the back yard shooting our block target.
With additional accesories, the Micro Midas represents a fairly significant investment. We added a case and a release to our purchase, bring the total to over four hundred dollars. However, the pride and seriousness with which my son has approached the sport is ample payback.
I could have squandered the same amount on buying video games -- and felt bad while he was playing them. Instead, he is learning lifelong skills which we both view with pride and satisfaction."
