Good Idea - Poor Engineering,November 4, 2009

"This is a very comfortable cot if you plan to sleep only 1 time on it. It's a great idea but the plastic fittings break easily rendering the cot useless. This is not an isolated case. When I returned the broken cot to the store, I inspected the replacement and found one of the fittings also broken. In my opinion, if the fittings (hubs) were made from aluminum or steel this would be the perfect cot. Another good idea ruined by manufacturing cost savings. I'd pay extra for aluminum or steel knowing my hunting nights would only be disrupted by my partners snoring.
As always, Cabela's gets 5 stars for Customer Service. They understand the value of dedicated Customers."

"I wasn't quite sure if this was really going to be sturdy enough much less comfortable. I've used it now for 12 nights elk hunting in Colorado and without a question it's the best most comfortable cot I've ever used AND it's a piece of cake to set up. Anyone who buys the traditional army cot and not this isn't thinking. What's interesting is that my brother was setting up his traditional army cot after he arrived at camp and guess what? He went to snap the 2nd bar on the end of the cot and the wood broke--no cot! I slept great--he didn't."

"They unfolded just as they were supposed to. Very, very comfortable to sleep on. We added a foam mattress pad (queen size cut in half works great for two cots; each gets half) and were thrilled with the comfort. They folded back up without any problems. These are very sturdy. Note: They are not lightweight and do take up room in a car trunk: full width of a Camry trunk and 10-12" in diameter. I had to pay a lot for shipping (so heavy!) to get them in time, but now I have to say they were worth it."

"I have used the standard aluminum frame cots sold by Cabela's and like the comfort but putting them up was a pain. Anyone who has used these knows attaching the stretcher bars at each end is a test of patience. Tossing and turning at night is a bit noisy with the squeaking. Saw and bought this new cot and will not look back! About 30 seconds to put up and totally comfortable. You lose space under the cot for gear but that is a small price to pay. Great cot."
