Love our Tent, November 17, 2009
    By PMHLA from Lousisana

"This is the best tent made ever for just camping in the woods. My husband and I do alot of camping during hunting season, this tent is so roomy and the screened in area is great for those nights that the bugs are biting. Makes it really nice. We really like that on those dewy and rainy days, it does not leak. As for setting the tent up, well it isn't rocket science, I am not saying it goes up like a snap, but it is really pretty easy. We would recommend this to everyone."

    Schreibz, October 15, 2009
    By schreibz from Minnesota

"This is a well built tent!!!! The canvas sheds water like a windsheild with Rain-X on it!!! The floor material is the best I have seen in a tent. Having 2 doors is a great idea as well. The steel poles are heavy and account most of the 100 plus pounds this tent weights but they will last. The awning is hard to set up. I personally will have little use for it so I will roll it up and forget about it. I bought the 9 X 12 tent and with the near straight walls you get to use all the floor space."

A Tent to be Proud of!, September 20, 2009
    By SWFLCamper from Florida

"All I can say is WOW! I love this tent. I found the reviews very helpful in deciding to buy this tent, so I will give back to the community with what I observed as well. Cabelas shipped the tent quickly and in perfect condition. The tent is heavy, but it's not made for backpacks. The pole bag and tent bag are separate which is nice to help carry them. I bought the tent to be able to base camp in comfort alone with my Cub Scout son, and also with my Wife and 4 year old. The size is a perfect compromise for my family of four. Room for cots and more! We will be using the Cam-o-Cot Bunks to save even more space inside. I was able to set the tent up fairly easy alone, very important to me with solo trips with my son. The Screen awning is amazing and you can put the tent up with it or without it. The tent provides built in straps to roll the awning material up at the front of the tent when not in use, and yes, the awning material is sewn into the tent as one piece. Originally, I was only going to put the awning up for longer Family trips, but it only took 15 minutes to put it up, so I will likely do it even for overnight trips with my son.

The directions are minimal at best, but good enough to get it done. Here's where I can add to the directions included with the tent:

Step 1. Stake the tent to the ground. Stake the four Corners first and there are 2 sets of 3 metal loops with 3 inch lock pins attached to them. Use the metal loops to stake your tent, but keep the lock pin vertical and off to the side while you drive in the steak. These pins don't look like much, but they insert (Loosely) into the bottom of your tent poles to help keep them in place when you erect the tent.

Step 2. Install the ridge poles. With tent flat on the ground, slide in the poles, one in center sleeve, and one on each end through loops.

Step 3. Install the upright poles. Decide NOW, if you want the awning up or not. If you want the awning up, you MUST insert the corner upright poles through a sleeve that looks like a sock on the front side of the tent (3 places). (Totally missing in directions) That's where the awning extends outward after the tent is up.

Step 4. Standing the tent up. It says two adults are required, but I did it alone easily by connecting the corner end poles, to the ridge poles, while they are collapsed (not extended), and on the ground. Then stand in the middle of one side and pull the ridge pole up and toward you until the end poles reach the lock pins. Insert the lock pins into the bottom of the poles on each side, then go back and forth between them to extend them higher using the thumb screws, about 6 inches at a time. Do both ends first, then do middle pole.

To this point, after reading directions and laying out the pieces for the first time, it took me 20 minutes to physically erect the tent by myself. Then I had to spend 10 minutes fixing what the directions left out about the awning socks on the front corner poles!

Step 5. Assembling the front awning. Nothing major to add. Just be sure to leave a little slack in extension poles while you setup. Takes about 15 minutes for poles and screen enclosure.

Step 6. Erect the side awning. Nothing major to add. You can vertically insert the poles for full height, or you can set the base of each pole by the tent at a 45 degree angle for better shade inside the tent.

    Conclusion:

Items still needed to secure the tent for really strong winds. The screen enclosure has 4 optional guy line loops and 10 optional ground loops for securing it to the ground, but the tent package doesn't include guy lines or stakes for them. 10 - 6 inch stakes would suffice. There are 4 additional loops on the top sides of the awning that you can secure the awning even further by attaching Guy Lines to. So 4 additional Guy lines with 4 additional 12 inch steaks would suffice.

This tent is incredible. It breathes well in the Florida humidity, and I'm still amazed with how water tight it is. It Does Not Leak! I had my wife blasting it with a hose while I stood on the inside. Dry! Strong (Thick) floor. Windows on all sides, optional side door where side awning extends. Inside the tent are four corners with loops to attach the included pocket organizers where you want. The zippers are strong and all have cords attached to make them easier to pull. The storage bag for the poles is heavy duty and lined with some sort of added backing for strength. There is a canvas bag for the stakes too. The Tent Bag is an open design making it easy to roll the tent up. Lay it on the bag, then strap and cinch! I placed the tent, rolled up on the bag, then placed the screen enclosure, folded like a blanket, on top of the tent and folded the bag over it. Still had plenty of room to strap and cinch with no cramming necessary!

    Hope this helps. Happy Camping!

    great tent, September 18, 2009
    By parttimecamper from georgia

"great tent. After you figure out what poles go where it is easy to put up. Have not had it up in a good rain yet but should be ok. You have to have two people to put up but that should be no problem being I don't camp by myself."

Super Sturdy Tent, September 17, 2009
    By RickandAlvena from Stanwood, WA

"My wife and I and our 2 Beagles just took this tent to Montana where we spent a week on the Flathead River. We had anything from 85 degree weather to blowing rain sideways with gust of 40+ MPH. We had the tent staked out with guy lines all around, the tent did not budge or leak a drop of water. This tent is very well made and comfortable to be in, but it is very very heavy and a pain in the.... to set up, the instructions suck. Once you set it up a few times it gets better. I have know doubt that this tent will out last all others."

You will not feel a dust storm at Burning Man, September 11, 2009
    By Phreddiva from Alameda, CA

    "I love this tent.
It's a bit of a pain to set up, but fine with help, and I have no idea how to fit it into the package once I'm done with it but I apparently slept through a 60 mph dust storm at burning man and the only time I got dust in my tent was when I accidentally left a window vent open.
    Fantastic!
    Heavy.
    But fantastic!

very heavy duty, September 10, 2009
    By spencer1 from new hampshire

"this setup is just what I was looking for...The only real issue is the assembly was tricky and not too easy to understand. It is also extremely heavy to manuver so keep that in mind...you may need a cabana boy for assistance...Product is very sturdy, well made and durable...I have a feeling it will be around a long long time!"

    Awesome Tent, September 3, 2009
    By HuskerCamper from Arkansas

"I received this tent a little over a week ago and I have only set it up in the back yard so far. I love it!
The set up is tricky--the person that wrote the directions and took the pictures need to be replaced, but if you have set up a cabin type tent before, you should be fine. The screen is also very tricky, but once it is up, it is awesome. I had my six-year old help me set it up, so it can be done by one person (six-year old not much help), but two adults would be better.
I am planning on camping in a remote area this deer season and this tent will be great. When I set it up, it was around 90 degrees and when I went into the tent, it was cooler in the tent than it was outside, unlike a plastic tent.
Very well constructed but it is heavy; most of that weight comes from the poles. Certainly not packable, but an awesome extended stay tent. I would highly recommend this tent; it will probably be the last tent I will ever buy.

    What a great tent, September 1, 2009
    By deaddukzack from Omaha, NE

"After spending money on tents that were great if the weather conditions were great I decided to buy this Kodiak Canvas tent. Most of the time when I camp it rains so I was looking for something that would keep my family dry. Well after putting this tent together last night I now know that I will be able to hang out on my tent in the worst of conditions. Upon "Seasoning" the tent I inspected it for leaks and it was as dry as a bone! Secondly the tent stakes alone weigh around 70 lbs, if that isn't sturdy, I don't know what is! One thing that I will say is that I did set this tent up on my own knowing that there could be a few challenges for me but needless to say, I set it up with the front enclosure in about 45 minutes. Personally I didn't think that was too bad. Hopefully I can shave off 10 or 15 minutes off of that this weekend.
All in all I can see that this is one of the best tents on the market! Thanks Cabela's for getting it to my house in such a timely fashion. If you are even considering this tent, take my word for it, this is the best!
    Great Camping to all...Deaddukzack!

    Awesomeness, September 1, 2009
    By DelilahB from California

"It is a very comfortable and well made tent, so far waterproof.
We use it like a house in the summer time so its getting pretty used, we'll see how it hold up next year. It has to be totally dry before storing which because of its size is going to be a big problem. We have to bring it inside and put it up to dry it in the fall.

Its a pain to set up, we did it at a family reunion and it took about 5 of us, we did it backwards first, whoops. The directions are horrible. It's trial and error the first time but you'll be find the next time. A great tent for long uses!

Big canvas tent, August 26, 2009
    By dcamper from Ohio

"Very nice tent. Heavy duty. Craftsmanship appears to be exceptional. Have not tested it in high winds yet.
The zippers are great and the windows are huge. With the one large side window the ventilation is awesome.

The set up is a little tricky especially with the screen porch.
I highly recommend setting it up at home once before taking it to the campsite. Takes 1 adult and at least one 12 yr. old to set it up. Also it is very heavy. If your looking for a tough tent then this one is for you.

The rocky mountain test, August 10, 2009
By RockyMountainCampers from Eastern Kansas flat landers

"We stayed dry through the rains we had. There were no leaks around seams or through the flooring keeping our gear nice and dry.

Wind protection was good and we could ventilate in any direction.

The screened awning gave extra space for storage and sitting in comfort. The entire unit stood up well for two grown men and three rowdy boys, two in their teens.

The tent was crowded with five cots but all in all contributed to an enjoyable week of trout fishing.

If this tent wears out, we would buy it again.

    A real tent!, August 5, 2009
By mlcamper from Moses Lake, WA.

"This tent is built to last! I'm very impressed with the construction. The size is perfect for a family or small group of hunters. The awning is a excellent addition and the screened in option works great at keeping out the bugs and allowing you to keep the main door open for extra airflow on hot days.
My only complaint....Instructions are vague! I recommend putting the tent together at least once at home before using it on a trip. Once you've figured out all the details that the instructions leave out putting it together is fairly easy. tear down is easy as well once you've done it a time or two.
Overall this is a fantastic product. Thanks Cabelas!

    Awsome tent, July 24, 2009
    By AnesthesiaMan

"Love the overall high quality of the tent canvas and the very sturdy design. It takes 2 adults to set-up properly, but what a nice product!! The seams are very well sewn. The bottom is thick, not the cheap plastic like other tents. I suspect that this is the last family tent we will buy for the rest of our lives because of the quality of construction and design. Also love the awning and the space it provides free from insects."

You get what you pay for!, July 11, 2009
    By Godscountry from Gaylord, Michigan

"You get every bit with this tent. My girlfriend and I researched every type of tent and this is the one that we liked the most. As the other reviews state, it is heavy, bulky and takes some assembly. We decided to take the advice of the others and spend a while setting it up at home. That helped out greatly as it was much easier to set up at our site.

I would highly recommend this tent. It is very well made and was very sturdy in the wind. It is not a back packing tent. My girlfriend especially like the little feature for power cords. On the front of the tent it has a small two inch zipper built in so that power cords or such can be run inside the tent and kept out of the way of the door. Worked out great for her electric heater.

Read the review on here, take their advice and you will not be disappointed!

    Excellent Purchase, July 7, 2009
    By Kingofthecamp from Georgia

"After purchasing many Top Brand tents and others that eventually end up in the trash, I decided to purchase the best tent there is. You buy it once and that's it. Don't let the price scare you away. The tent it'self weighs in at 55 LBS. and the pole bag at 70LBS. It's heavy! Make sure you don't have to carry it too far. The quality is unbelievable. Very thick poly floor and very thick fabric. It says it takes several people to set it up, but I did it myself. After setting it up I watered it down with the garden hose. No Leaks! which is all one can ask for. I had a tent just like this one that I used for 15 years....finally I loaned it to the wrong people, and it never came back. I now stay away from all the poly tents. They all seem to rip and leak. Very roomy, the screen porch is a huge bonus! you can sit in there when its raining and never get wet!"

    Great Tent, June 24, 2009
By WiscsonsinCamper from Lake in the Hills, IL

"I waited a long time to make this purchase, reading everything about canvas cabin tents, and corresponding directly with the manufacturer. This model is of higher quality than the ones sold by other, on-line dealers - they save the best for Cabelas. I could not be happier about the purchase. The tent works very well, although I will agree with the reviews that the setup is a little tricky the first time, especially when using the screen enclosure - my tip is not to try to "tighten" up the canopy for the enclosure until after installing the screen. After a couple times, it can be set up and taken down in about 15 minutes with two people. The main tent area is large enough for two queen size air matresses, with a couple feet between them and along the side with the door to the screen room. The entire tent is very high quality, and is easy to pack away. The pole bag is about 46" long, and the tent bag allows the dimensions to be adjusted to fit your storage space by folding it up as required."

    hunting tent, June 15, 2009
    By eggmancanada from Canada

"I bought this tent for hunting and family camping. It is heavy, but all canvas tents are. Features like the screen room are handy for cooking away from the bugs, and all the windows allow for good ventilation in warm weather. When I first got the tent, I set it up in the yard and turned the sprinkler on it and the water just beaded off, and not one drop inside. I'm looking forward to hunting out of this tent this fall. If your looking for a quality tent this is it, I can't think of one thing I don't like about it."
