"Rod broke on 1st day of a 7 day trip into the BWCA. Never even hooked a fish and only used this combo paddling across a lake and into a bay where I threw 3 times. On the 4th cast the rod splintered into pieces. Extremely disappointed with this purchase."

"Got a hit on my first cast set the hook and the rod broke. Had to send the rod and reel back because it was a "combo". First fish with the new replacement the rod broke again. Both fish were ~2lb bass."

"3rd cast with rod it busted on the retreive.bought 3 units and the others are fine.I am sure it will be replaced as always"

Good Reel, Not so great rod, July 28, 2009

"When I first recieved this reel/rod combo, I thought that it looked nice, and felt very smooth. Then I went out on the water with it, the second time that I tried to jerk back to hook a fish the rod shattered and there wasn't even a fish hooked. Cabelas did replace the rod. I believe that the rod had to have been steped on or something before being shiped."

"The combo was cheaper than the reel itself. Very smooth casting and reeling reel. Had to teach myself how to cast without muscling the lure into the water. Great deal."
