Trac C-10000 Very Poor,August 16, 2009
By MarkFromMassfrom Orange, MA
"I do not normally take the time to write reviews but in this case I felt it was the right thing to warn every other customer of this VERY POOR product. I have a 16' 6" Sea Nymph Aluminum boat which a 1500 electric winch which had a little trouble closing the last foot to fully mounted, so I decided to upgrade to the 5900 lb bunk capacity of this C-10000. What a mistake! First I had to construct a new mounting platform to get the desires angle and bolt pattern. Then the unit is extremely slow when it works! It works for about 2/3 of the boat retrieve and then starts hesitating and about 2-3 feet from fully mounted it completely stops. Cabela's needs to discontinue this product immediately. Oh, I forgot to mention that I should have known there was a problem with these units as mine was back ordered for some time before it was shipped."

TRAC 7000,August 4, 2009
By SierraNevadaJacksonfrom High Sierra Nevadas, California
"Difficult to mount if you have little platform in which to mount. I had to purchase a 6" X 8" 1/4" thick aluminum plate to mount on my trailer.
My trailer only had a 2" square gavanized arm area (where the old winch mounted) to mount the plate to. So in order to use the holes provided in the winch, I had to grind the heads of the rear bolts, and one side of the nuts, so they would "stradle" the 2" arm.
Some considerable work had to be done, but if TRAC had done their homework and reviewed more light weight trailers, they might have come up with a better mounting system.
Be prepared to do some mechanical engineering if the area to mount the unit doees not provide a large enough surface to mount the unit."

as bad as it gets,July 23, 2009
By DCHARLEYfrom Rochester NY
"I should of listened to some of the other reviewers. They said these winches were poor performers and they were right. I had to completely take it apart to install it. They quality is of poor construction. It it very loud and when it did move my boat it is very slow. I got the 7,000 lb one to make sure it would retrieve my 2,300 lb boat. Well guess what? I had to almost completely submerge my trailer in order to get the winch to work. It would cut out, hesitate and completely stop. I took it off as soon as I got home and put the hand crank back on. I will get some other electric winch, but not the TRAC. If I could give it zero stars I would."

"Real excited to receive the winch....Until I tried it on the boat and trailer. Worked fine in the driveway. The lake was another story, it wouldn't work at all, didn't even make a sound.. If this ie the quality of all these winches, Cabala's would be better served to NOT carry this item."

mounting,June 13, 2009

"seems to for ok but slow. life would have been easier if they offered a mounting bracket or a bolt hole template i had to invent a mounting bracket. my first design worked but needs inprovement. i have about 4 hours tring to find or make a bracket! the hand crank is a joke the holes are machined wrong to fit properly and you need king kong to operate. i should of spent another $100 and got a different winch"
