Navionics vs. Lake Insight Lowrance HDS-5, July 7, 2009

"Navionics is good but Lowrance Lake Insight is more practical. For fishing fresh water inland lakes, the data on Lake Insight is more useful. The extra high definition bells and whistles on Navionics are not worth the extra money. I don't need to see an arial photo that is out of date. As with most Navionics features, it's cute but serves no useful purpose.

The colors seem backward as well. I always expect depper water to be darker blue. Navionics is the opposite. I have to keep reminding myself that there is not a sand bar in the middle of the lake. There is more detailed topo data at close range and navigation lights are noted as well.

I use both Navionics and Lake Insight but I didn't need to spend the money on Navionics. For what you get, it is overpriced."

"Card works as advertised. However, its not much better than Lowrances lake insight maps. If I didn't have the insight maps it might be woth it."
