"I was looking specifically for a Wind Pro Fleece vest because I already owned a Wind Pro Jacket and really liked the fabric. (Both were purchased for wearing indoors in winter, we keep our thermostats low.)
This vest was made by AvalancheWear, which I don't consider a top brand, but at least it was Made in the USA (Cabela's says it's imported, but the tag on my vest says otherwise).
A few minor quibbles: the armholes are cut too high and narrow which I didn't notice until I ripped off the tags. (I would recommend trying on your regular size and the next size up.) The finishing details are a little sloppy looking, specifically the zipper backing. The pockets don't have zippers, there is no drawcord at the bottom and no draft flap behind the zipper.
Fit is slim. (Chest on medium is 20" measured lying flat from pit to pit.) I would think the major reason people would return this vest is because of the armholes. However, I find the fit flattering, and preferred it over two fleece vests I ordered from another "Maine" website (which I returned).
The color isn't bad, either, it's definitely not fuschia, more like a deep red -- think garnet or cranberry. Plus the Wind Pro fabric is warm and does cut the wind better than regular fleece. It'll work great as an outer layer or under a shell. You can't go wrong with anything Polartec.
Overall I'm pleased, and it's almost exactly what I wanted."
