TC's patented pivoting action seals the 209 primer tight, ensuring 100% of the fire from the primer goes into the powder charge. There's no need for a capper or any other priming system. Just insert the primer into the primer hole and close the breech. The magnum charge capability, up to 150 grains of black powder or Pyrodex®, sends slugs thundering downrange. Quick-Load Accurizer Muzzle System on the 28" blued barrel makes loading easy, and 1-in-28" twist stabilizes sabots for tack-driving accuracy. The black synthetic stock is impervious to the elements and extremely tough for handling the hardest hunts. The pivoting action also makes the Omega easy to clean. "This gun is easy to use and handle. The gun is extremely accurate with just the tru glow sights. My son and I shot the gun about 30 times to practice and then he shot a nice whitetail buck with a 24 inch spread at 40 yards. The buck never moved dropped right were he was standing. We were using Jim Shokey Gold sticks and Hornady XTP Mag bullets"

"I was pleased with Cabelas price on the gun and the quality of the gun itself. At first I could not get a good group out of it with the Hornady 250 grain XTPs,and tried the .452 300 grain XTPs and the gun became a tack driver.I load the XTPs on top of 120 grains of FF Triple Seven and could not be happier with the gun, load, accuracy and incredible damage it does to deer.I shot 2 deer last fall and the bullets mushroom perfectly and retain nearly all their weight, leaving a huge entry hole, that's right, entry hole. The first deer was hit right at the base of the neck and the bullet traveled all the way through the body cavity and lodged in the upper rear leg,the deer dropping in place ,flopping for a moment and then dying quickly. The second was hit broadside, ran about 50 yards and dropped, the entry hole was about the size of a large egg but the bullet was not recovered.I could not be more satisfied with the Omega Z5 and it's performance with the 300 grain XTPs.The gun is easy to clean, and a quality piece ,I would like to buy a second one for friends to use."

Solid rifle; hits where you point it.,August 24, 2009
By arisaka99from Longmont, CO
"Full disclosure: I am a muzzle loader newbie. The z5 was in the sweet spot of price/quality/positive reviews, so I bought it. Have been practicing with blackhorn 209 and Fed209a primers. no misfires, no flyers. The sights were consistently a little off to the right when the z5 came out of the box: 3" at 100 yards. Not a problem. When I loosened the rear sight to adjust, though, it came free very quickly and moved WAY further than I wanted. I classify this mistake as a "my bad" not a "rifle bad." A few more shots and adjustments and things are back to good, but heads up "be conservative about loosening the rear sight screw." The fiber sights themselves are very nice. I shot Sabots, belted and the hornady hollow tail conicals and all behaved very well. I haven't yet taken it out in the rain in elk country, but the 209 primer looks very protected from the elements. The stock sounds like hollow plastic, but doesn't flex even when I touch off a 110 grain load behind a 350 grain conical. The only beef I have against the synthetic stock is theoretical at this point: I expect that undergrowth branches will hit that hollow butt stock and make a "rumma drumma, here comes the hunter" noise in the bush. This wouldn't be a problem if you're a deer hunter in a blind, though. Aftermarket wooden stocks are not hard to find if that turns out to be the case. Seems to be the right tool for the job."

Great Gun For The Cost,March 19, 2009
By MGreenfrom St. George, UT
"This is my first blackpowder gun and I am not disappointed. I've only sighted it in at 50 yards but I am shooting a group you could cover with a $.50 piece. I can't wait to hunt with it this year."

thompson center omega,November 27, 2008
By ohioturkeyhunterfrom columbus,OH
"I put a scope on this gun a week before the youth season in ohio and went and shot it at 50 yards and got it dialed in so that it was two inches high at fifty yards. On the second day of the youth season a decent size deer which ended up being a button buck ran down the hill and he stopped at 92 yards. I put the crosshairs on the heart area and pulled the trigger and after the smoke cleared i sall alot of blood coming out of his side. The deer only went 30 yards and fell over. This is my first muzzleloader and it was the first time that i had hunted with it. I only use 100 grains of powder and a 250 grain shockwave bullet. This gun shoots very tight groups at 50 yards but i have not got the chance to shoot at 100 yards but i think that it will group very tight from a bench. I think that if i loaded the gun with 150 grains of powder that this gun could easily take a deer at 200 hundred yards or more. I am going to put my slug gun in the gun case and only use my omega becuase i feel more confident with this gun with one shot than i do with my shotgun with three shots. This gun is very easy to clean and the accuracy dosn't change if you don't clean it after each shot. This is the best muzzleloader for the money."

By woodsman50from Utica, New York
"After shooting 1 1/2 inch groups with my new Omega, the guys in camp were very impressed. so impressed that my cousin went out and bought one, too. This gun shoots, looks, and feels like a top notch firearm. I am saving my money to buy a stainless thumbhole model. Kudos to the guys at TC. and it is a dream to clean.

Incredible Rifle!,August 17, 2008
By JAS215from Virginia
"For years, I balked at purchasing a black powder rifle because I expected marginal accuracy and messy, labored clean-up... boy was I all wrong!! This T/C Omega has instantly become a favorite of mine at the range! The Omega couldn't be easier to operate and/or clean (one wet patch and one dry follower every two shots keeps her loading smooth and shooting straight!) and her accuracy is far beyond anything I could have expected! My 14 year old son and I took alternate turns shooting open-sites (literally straight out of the box!) at 50 yards using 240 gr Hornady XTP sabots and only 80 grains of 777 pellets and were able to produce an impressive (for us!) 2.5" grouping with our first 10 shots from the T/C Omega. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with my purchase - so much so, that I agreed to purchase a second one for my son so we BOTH can shoot/hunt at the same time!. I would highly recommend the T/C Omega and Cablea's for anyone seeking a new ML rifle - especially if you want a great looking, great handling ML for a GREAT price!"

Thompson Center Omega Z5 - Blue/Black,August 11, 2008
By rubbermakerfrom Pa.and hunt in Md. AND vA.
"My Omega with 130 grains of 777 pellets and a 250 grain shockwave will put them in the same hole at 50 yds. At 100yds. about 1.5-2.5in. I cleaned the bore every 2 shots just a spit patch followed by a dry patch.I had shot a TC Black Diamond. Although it shot good and I killed numerous deer with it the accuracy was not this good and you had to babysit it in the rain sometimes when the striker got wet it didn't hit the primer hard egough.I expect no such trouble with the closed breech-hammer system of the Omega oh yeah it's very easy to clean completly!"

"This rifle is incredible. It has totally changed my perception that "Black Powder" is to labor intensive and complicated. I took my new Omega out of the box, loaded it and shot a paint can one hundred yards out! No joke.
The Omega is very easy to load and even easier to clean. I highly recomend the Thompson Omega Z5."

Omega Z5,February 12, 2008

"I bought the TC Omega after I had bought then returned a Traditions Pursuit inline. The quality of the Traditions rifle didn't come close to the TC. With the Omega I got an excellent trigger pull right out of the box and with two Pyrodex pellets and a 250 gr. Shockwave I was printing 3 shot groups inside an inch at 100 yds. Even my 9 yr. old son was able to handle this rifle, he did wish the recoil pad was a little softer but he said he wanted to hunt with this rifle next season. When he gets a little older he'll be getting his own Omega."
