A concaved cup design to accommodates both Shot Gun and Rifles users, and with a weight of 9.8 ounces, the Predator Gold is the lightest Gold Series model for long-term use. They feature Dynamic-Level Sound Compression? technology with Automatic Gain Control? that amplifies softer sounds up to 70db. 50db of gain can increase hearing up to eight times more than normal. Hunters can turn up the gain to hear soft sounds in the woods in stereo and still have protection from loud noises without the annoying hissing sound. The Gold Series offers the first built-in microprocessor. It provides onboard diagnosis and supports new features like automatic shutoff, audible battery meter and the cleanest, most natural sound in hearing protection (eliminates 80% of white noise). A 3.5mm input jack allows you to listen to AM/FM radios, CD players, MP3 players and FRS radios. This modular unit has a comfortable, padded, adjustable headband. "Throw away the cheap model(s.) Great hearing protecton and better sound quality amplification than my $5K hearing aids. Comfortable right out of the box for 3 hours."

"So far I have only used these around the house and outside to test them and to sight in a couple of .30-06 rifles. I plan to use them while hunting.

The amplification works well for hearing sounds I would not normally hear. I have even used them to find a cell phone that was beeping in my house that I could barely hear but could not locate with my normal hearing. Wind noise is noticable but not annoying or unusable. They handle wind noise much better than some cheap brands I have tried.

For noise reduction, the dynamic level sound compression works as advertised and I could carry on a conversation while others were shooting. The noise reduction rating of 26 was a little less than I liked for repeated reports from the large caliber rifle. I am fairly sensitive to loud sounds. I found that if I used a pair of soft foam ear plugs and the Pro Ears that I was more comfortable and I could still carry on a conversation if I turned the volume up a little more. For hunting I would just use the Pro Ears.

The muffs are comfortable and I wore them for several hours with no annoyance. They are slim enough that I could shoot my rifle without them getting in the way.

Overall they are good quality, a little pricey but they work well and I would recommend them to anyone wanting to use them while hunting or be able to hear normal sounds while shooting."

"I could not believe how welll these things work! Bought a pair for my brother and I. We both shoot large caliber handguns and deer hunt from blinds. The Pro Ears Predator are the right combination of size vs quiet factor. They work exactly as advertised. The 33db Pro Ears were just too big for our needs.
We are very satisfied with these! Haven't had to deal with tech support but it sounds like we will be impressed with that too."
