Cot Failure,October 18, 2009
By LodiDoug
"We purchased 3 of these cots and they all failed on the first night. 2 of them collapsed, and the third one used by my 8 year old daughter started to collapse in the same place. I'm not sure if it is a bad design or a flaw in the materials. We returned them with no hassles and will replace them with the Outfitter model."

Excellent Purchase,September 20, 2009
By Sammy1962from North Carolina
"These cots were very easy to set up. We took them out of the box and set them up before the camping trip - after the initial stretching, it went together easily and simply. It took approximately 20 minutes from beginning to end. Assembled, it is very spacious and provided plenty of sleeping room. It is a must have for serious campers."

Not well built,August 24, 2009
By SDHuntFishCampfrom Pierre, SD
"I was not impressed with the quality of the cot. I am used to Alaskan Guide branded products being high quality, this one was not. I had many of the same problems described by the other reviewers including the bending of legs of the cot on the first usage. I actually returned two of these cots. Both times the legs bent, the second cot came without a couple of nuts and the carry bag handle tore off the first time I picked it up.
I took the second cot back and got a Outfitter XL. Now that's a nice cot. It's engineered well and is solid. If you're planning on using your cot for a small child in your own back yard get the Alaskan Guide, if you're serious camping or hunting get the XL."

not good quality,August 23, 2009
By lovetherockiesfrom slc,ut. love the outdoors
"I have also bought a lot of items form cabellas, this one is not a very good item! I bought the first one a year ago and the first time I used it the bar across the top bent when I layed down. I took it back and they gave me a new one a month later and I used it for the first time last week on week long camp trip to the Tetons in Wyoming. The first time I used it, guess what? The leg bent! I only weigh 185 lbs. There is definately something wrong with the quality on this item!"

Comfortable and convienent,August 12, 2009
By lebster01from Cape Cod,MA
"The cot is easy to set up and comfortable to sleep on (although we recommend a pad for cooler nights. The side pockets are very convienent. The cot tree was a bit wobbly but was great for hanging clothes and a towel. The whole package fits easily in the carrying bag provided."
"The cots are probably not as study as advertised. One leg bent slightly on first use with a 200 lb person. One of the carry bags had a four inch split on the zipper binding. One of the cots had a nut head missing that held one of the middle leg brackets (found in the bottom of the box). Both cots were full of aluminum shavings and drill residue. All in all not up to the quality I'm used to getting from Cabela's."

Great Value and Great Performance,July 9, 2009
By HighlandTrekkerfrom Arizona
"I admit, after reading two of the reviews about this cot, I was a little concerned about its durability, and in particular the legs bending under weight. But after looking at about every cot made, and their deisgn, I decided to try this one. It has quality canvas and good construction. It's a perfect size for me- 6' 1" and 195#. And Cabelas is a quality outfitter that stands by their products, so I decided to try this kit, and I'm glad I did.
I did secure a strap between the lower part of the two middle legs to limit their spread and help support them, but I had no reason to do so other than my concern about bending them under load. I believe under normal use the middle legs take the greatest weight because you typically sit in the middle of the cot to get in and out.
The cot has held up beautifully. I've taken it camping and used it at home, and it is as good as the day I bought it. On one occasion when camping two adults were sitting on it and it held up fine.
I also like the Night Stand. It's extremely handy and keeps the tent much more organized.
The size of this cot is perfect. It's big enough to get a great night's sleep and not so large as to hog all the room in the tent.
From my research, the canvas on this cot is much better than most. Also, the carrying case is large enough to get everything in it without any problem.
This has been a great purchase."

Great burly cot- expect many years of use,June 30, 2009
By ColoradoJonfrom West of Denver
"4.5 stars Relatively easy to set up Stable, strong, compact to store the "bedside table" is awesome and extremely useful long enough and wide enough-
downside its a bit heavy- I would think there could be a better way to attach the hanging rack than with velcro straps"

Alaskan Guide Model Cot Kit,June 30, 2009
By jacksdad3from Amherst, NH
"After 32+ years in the Army, I am fully MOS-qualified in misery and suffering. This cot and pad take those two out of my lexicon. It sets up quick and provides features I have wanted, such as a safe place, other than my right boot, for my glasses, a convenient place for tomorrow's pair of socks and my flashlight.
This is a great setup for car camping."

Maybe just a lemon,May 5, 2009
By Shananfrom Moapa Valley, NV
"I got this cot for Christmas and took it to San Carlos to hunt Javelina in January. The first night it was confortable. The set up was fine. The second night I sat on the corner to take my boots off and bent the leg. I'm an average size man I think. 180lbs. This is my first cot and maybe that is just a rookie error I don't know, but it trashed the cot. I have had no problems with Cabelas products in the past and I have bought a lot of items from them. To Cabelas credit they took the broken cot back and sent me a new one with no trouble. We will see how the new one holds up. Maybe the first one was just a lemon."

Cozy Cot,January 2, 2009
By coyotecallerWYfrom Gillette, Wyoming
"I purchased two of these cots last spring and love them. They are little tricky to set up the first time since the fabric is so tight but once you sleep on it a couple of times it is very easy to set up. They are pretty heavy so you need to camp close to the pick up!"
