A Good Basic Boat, June 14, 2009

"I've used this model for almost a full season so far. I bought it on sale and just wanted something that stores small yet offers good mobility on the small lakes and ponds in my area.

The basic design is very sound - basically two pontoons onto which you strap a metal frame. The boat is easy to figure out and set up, but plan on spending at least 30 minutes getting it ready for the water.

On the water it is surprisingly easy to row. Yes, it gets pushed around by the wind a bit, but overall it is an easy to maneuver craft.

I mount an electric motor on mine for quick maneuvering around the lakes I fish. The weight of the motor and battery make the boat 'transom heavy', but the boat still balances well when the passenger is aboard.

Positives - well made for the price, easy to set up, good value (particularly if caught on sale), good manufacturer support.

Negatives - steel frame - it will rust! Accessory/tackle bags on the pontoons are of limited use, the stock seat is about useless - I substituted a plastic 'bass boat' seat.

Overall a good product for the price. Yes, there are better boats out there but for the price this is about as good as it gets!"
