Not quite what they seem,August 11, 2009

"They are comfortable until you try and cross the water. If there is any slime or moss, they won't hold. I will be looking for studs to put in the soles if I keep these. I like the light weight, but immediately changed back to my heavy simms guide boots. I would rather lug heavy confident boots then save some energy and risk slipping!"

"The boots are comfortable to wear and easy to put on. But I would have preferred a quick tie/release elastic instead of the laces. They don't completely eliminate slipperiness on moss covered rocks, but if you get use to them they work OK."

"Not very grippy, had a very hard time on slime covered rocks. They are well made and light but the soles don't compare with felt. I have been looking for studs to see if they help but cant find any that fit."

"These boots are very comfortable,lightweight and easy on&off. I've been to the mountains of NC, and the West Branch of the Deleware in NY. Overall no problems with grip except on algae covered rocks, no grip there. A stud kit is highly recommended!"

"this is a great lightweight but yet stable and durable boot, provides excellent traction even on rocky and pebble river as well as just muddy bottom, and great water drainage. there are a few minor drawbacks the hooks to lace the strings are a bit small and can cause problems at times and a snug fit if you wide width feet.
but overall this boot is the best i have tested i have have tested a few.
where i fish is mostly the Maumee river in Ohio."

"Best boots I've ever bought. Really lightweight, great fit and support. I've hiked into a lot of spots in it. My first Cloudveil purchase was the felt boot, and I got great wear out of them. I decided to try this new vibram sole as I'd heard it provides considerably more grip than aquastealth, and is better for the fishing environment than felt. The grip is great. Definitely recommend."

"Great boot. I like the soles because they provide traction in the water and when hiking along the bank. They feel like hiking boots and are super light when I'm wet wading. During the winter, the soles don't collect snow like felt, which is handy, too."

"Great boot for my area. Good for wading and great for hiking to the hard to get rivers and creeks. Sticky, grippy, whatever is way better than felt for the rivers from the environmental impact. Very light weight and drains great. The insert is great for sizing the middle of the road kind of fit and I liked the lacing system around ankle for support"

"The grippy rubber works. It really works. I purchased these boots with my 8x waders. I was a Simms devotee, but now I'm a believer in Cloudveil. Lightweight and great support. I really like the fact they come with a neoprene insert so I can custom fit them to my 11 1/2 shoe size."
