    The 6wt...Delivers the goods!, September 24, 2009
By YNPBear from Winona MN on the Mississippi

"I live on the Mississippi river and flyfish almost every evening for smallmouth, largemouth and northern pike and the 6wt rod has been very good.

    The Good:
    1. Very nice appearance. Well made fly rod. A+ looks.
    2. Good "backbone"...without a think butt section. Everytime I've read the "backbone" comments...I thought the rod would have a large butt section (thick) but it does not. Appearence wise it looks like the well design rod that it is. Last night I landed an 8lb northern pike on the rod...really testing it's "backbone" !
    3. It does cast appropriately sized flies well! I bought the 6 wt and it throws smallmouth sized poppers and streamers very nicely. Don't buy the 6wt for jumbo hairbugs and heavily weighted streamers!
    4. The short length is great for tossing bugs under trees and pinpoint casting.

    The Bad:
    1. It takes a little getting use to the short length! This rod is for short to medium length...accurate casting. If you want to bang out an entire fly line...it isn't the rod!
    2. Make sure you use the appropriate length (and x size) leaders. A 7.5' works great. It's a moderately fast action, "short" rod so light tippets can be a bit frustrating to cast. Think "bullet casting"!
    3. Make sure you use some wax on the ferrules or you'll keep casting the rod apart.

The advertising copy often says "panfish need not apply" but I disagree. It's a great bluegill rod for casting under the trees and docks with small poppers. You can still enjoy a nice bluegill and have the ability to land any bass that comes your way.

Great value for the $$ and the super quick shipping from Cabelas was very nice.

my dream rod!, August 11, 2009
    By bassinmann from Tennessee

"This is the rod I've always wanted, a short six weight with a fighting butt and fast beefy action. The rod is beautifully finished and I love the built in line keeper that's built into the reel seat. It's a great quality rod and a very reasonable price. I own several over $400.00 rods but for the kind of fishing I do, this one has become my favorite. It's an excellent small mouth and spotted bass rod and it's great for largemouth as well, though I'm thinking about getting the 9 weight for largemouth in heavy cover."

Great Warmwater Rod, May 2, 2009
    By BlindGuy from SC

"I live in the southeastern US and have ready access to lots of warmwater -- bass ponds, etc. This rod is perfect for light bass fishing and other panfish. For these species, it is important to be able to land flies near banks and other structure. It loads easily and casts well. A great value."
