Humminbird 788ci Combo,August 24, 2009
By DerbyDave62from Central California
"My first Humminbird was an LCR4 ID and that unit sold me; I've never had reason to look to a competitor's fishfinder. My new 788ci Combo put a great big smile on this old man's face the first time I turned it on. The color, resolution, and a multitude of features is way more than I expected. The GPS was great with the built-in UniMap, but it's totally awesome with an add-on high resolution MMC/SD map card from a third-party. The 360 page operations manual scared me a bit, but after discovering that 1/2 of it was in French, it was a little less intimidating. The good news: find the power button and the View button and you'll be off and running without spending a bunch of time reading. The manual can be used to add to what you don't figure out on your own. Try it; You'll like it!"

Poor Mount Design,August 10, 2009
By Misterbassfrom Ballston Spa, NY
"I recently purchased a Humminbird 788 ci and at first I was very pleased with the unit. The features are very user freindly and the display is very clear. The Base Swivel Mount on the other hand is of poor design and when navigating in rough water the graph will spin and move around. I had an Eagle for 4 years and it was rock solid, never vibrated loose or moved even in the roughest of waters. I contacted Humminbird and the customer service was good, they even sent me a new Swivel Mount but unfortunately it hasnt corrected the problem. If your'e a Tournament Bass Angler that relies on rock solid equipment than I wouldnt bother buying this unit."

Good unit, simple to use with one minor issue,July 7, 2009
By Buckchaserfrom Vermont
"I bought this unit as my bow sonar to use with US2 on my terrova. It is connected through a interlink to a 997, and that works flawlessly. I am very happy with this unit, and it is super clear and easy to read. The GPS locks quickly, and performs as expected. The only problem I had with it was some interference issues with the US2. If I were to use the transducer that came with the unit it was fine. The interference only occurred while the trolling motor was running. This made the unit very hard to read, and the screen very cluttered. For a sanity check, I tried the unit on a buddies boat with a US2 Fortrex, with the same results. So I called humminbird and they sent me a interference kit free of charge that cleared up this issue, so now if functions flawlessly."

Great Product,June 17, 2009
By Rainbow03from Alaska
"After using the new 788 ci Sonar/Internal GPS combo for 6 days on a freshwater lake in Alaska, I find it very easy to use and very reliable. It is easy to follow a depth contour and the thing keeps working great even at 25 mph. I did not use the navigation capabilities very much since the lake chart was not included with the other charts (no Alaska lakes are included). It took a few hours to install and I did follow the directions faithfully. I'm looking forward to learning more of its capabilities."

Ex Lawrance Loyalist,June 15, 2009
By B91710from So Cal
"Had Lawrance products on my boat for over 5 years, never knew what I was missing. I purchased the 788ci for the front of my boat, what a difference. Clear, crisp fish finder and the GPS is dead spot on. Every penny you spend on this unit will be well worth it."

778 CI Sonar/GPS with dual 200/60 transm trnsducer,March 30, 2009
By Skydogvanfrom Bakersville, North Carolina
"I am extremely pleased with the 778 CI unit with dual frequency transom tranducer. I purchased this unit for the GPS and mapping features. I just used it for three days March 26-29 on Santee Cooper and found structure with the HD Hot maps chip overlooked by the seasoned guides that put us on lots of fish every day. It was really awesome!
I purchased this unit after much research and trepidation about features, resolutions and best screen sizes to go wtih vs $. Transducer installation is easier than the directions would indicate. Installation was straigtht forward. Got a satelite lock while still in my garage and could scope out lakes with the boat on the trailer! (really cool). Rember to get a 3 amp fuse holder for the positive lead (used one of my old unit with a new fuse). Defineately a super unit with all the feature for a serious weekend angler needs to compete with the pros.
I was concerned about the smaller screen size, but the super high resolution really makes up the difference and 5 inch sreen is big enough to show the detail. The sonar is top notch also. A good read of the manual is helpful, but most functions are intuitive if you can already use a GPS in a car. The Hot maps chip with your fishing lake(s) in high def is a must if want to be satisfied beyond your expectations."

Love it!,March 10, 2009
By brmofffrom Omaha, NE
"I love the dual card slots for this new model. Can keep my navionics in and use the 2nd slot for a blank SD card for waypoints, screenshots, and software updates. Very easy to install and very user friendly. The support I received from Humminbird was excellent too when I had questions. Thier website is a tad slow, but doesn't change my experience with the product. The GPS is very accurate and had no signal problems with the internal GPS antenna."
