Lots of replacing and lots of lost feed and effort,
September 14, 2009
By firstjohn

"Wish I had the same good results as others indicate. I've bought 3. Have used 6...replaced every one. Same issue as another person said below...motor turns on and runs until the battery runs dead. Got to feeder 3 days ago and 200# off corn was on the ground under the feeder. Cabela's very good on replacing them...like I said...I BOUGHT 3 and USED 6 (replaced every one I've owned with another and some of those replacements exhibit the same issues). Even if they offer to replace the bad ones I have now, I'm not using these again - 200# of corn costs too much and messes up all my preparation at that site."

Good Feeder,

"Easy to use, excellent feeder. Made my own feeder out of a 55 gallon plastic barrel and some fence posts for legs. Slapped this feeder on. Had it up for almost 2 years now and absolutely no problems. Runs off of the 6 volt spring top batteries. Battery last me 8 months without solar power and 4 feed times a day with 8 second run times each."

2 years - no problems,

"We have had two of these units operating 365 days a year as replacements for the units that came with the feeders. We have 6-volt solar recharging units attached to each and have not had any type of problem with either unit including the batteries. 2 units, 2 years, 0 problems. What more can I say?"

Feeder,

"I have had six of these feeders in constant use for the exotic ducks that I raise for the last two years. One out of three, within six months, has had timer failure where the motor would not shut down and the battery would go dead. Otherwise, for the money, they are fairly reliable, and the company has replaced the ones that have failed."

"Although I prefer Moultrie feeders over any other, the price and value of this unit is great. Solid, reliable, and easy to set up. 55 gallon drum + two ratchet straps (attach to tree) + this unit and you are in business."

Feeder,

"I have bought the cabelas photo cell feeders for years and was somewhat pleased with them. This feedr is extremely easy to set and adjust to whatever settings you preffer. However i have had several problems with the motors burning out in them and the buttons not working on the digital face place. Cabelas has been great in replacements but i have problems with 3 out of the 5 purchased within 5months of being used."

Save your time, money and frustration,
November 23, 2008
By KJPacer

"I originally bought the Cabela's tripod system with the photocell unit. It had a mind of it's own and would cycle hours after the sun was up. Cabela's allowed me to upgrade to the digital unit; big improvement over the photocell unit but it only lasted less than 3 months in the field. I discovered the unit was defective this season after I had 200lbs. of corn in the feeder; the unit would not shut off!!! In frustration I ordered a Moultire feeder motor to replace the defective Cabela's digital. In the end Cabela's stands #1 in customer service as they are allowing me to return the defective unit and will credit my account for the Moultrie replacement cost."

"The feeder that I originally purchased from cabela's was the 225 hanging "green" feeder. The controls were not good,so I purchased the step-up digital feeder control and it works great! I'm absolutely satisified now."
