There's a good reason why Thompson/Center is considered one of the leading modern manufacturers of black-powder guns their product offerings just keep getting better with each new gun. The Triumph .50 cal. is no different and definitely lives up to its namesake. The Triumph ushers in a new era of innovation as the first-ever, non-FFL break-open gun from T/C. This new magnum muzzleloader is destined to be the center of attention for black-powder enthusiasts due to its toggle-lock action that allows you to break the gun open and get tip-up access to the barrel. The lever-action design works the same as the Omega, where you pull the trigger guard lever down. But, with only four moving parts on this gun, there's no need to remove the trigger group, bolt or barrel the barrel and stock break open like your favorite shotgun. This new break-open design provides easier access to the breech area for priming and cleaning, as well as access to the 209 primer. To make things even easier, T/C created the Speed Breech XT™ the first breech plug that can be removed by hand simply by turning the breech 90°. Once the breech plug is removed, just run the solid-aluminum ram rod with a cleaning patch through the barrel to clean it. A series of locking lugs on the breech plug prevent it from seizing. Three gas compression rings on the face of the breech plug eliminate 95% of the corrosive fouling. The trigger sets with an automatic hammer-block safety and comes factory set at 3 to 3-1/2 lbs. An alloy receiver anchors the new design, reduces the weight and balances the rifle for smooth handling. The SIMS Limbsaver™ recoil pad reduces felt recoil. The Triumph is engineered to handle 150-grain charges. The 28" barrel has a 1-in-28" rate of twist that stabilizes
sabots for incredible accuracy. The barrel is also equipped with a Quick-Load Accurizer Muzzle System for quick, simple loading. With its 28" barrel, the Triumph burns magnum charges with maximum efficiency to produce higher velocities than standard-length barrels. Truglo® fiber-optic inserts in adjustable, metal sights. The Triumph also features T/C's Weather Shield™ advanced metal coating for corrosion protection and durability with a Realtree® AP HD® stock. .50 caliber only.

upset with thompson/center,March 10, 2009
By dkdeerhtrfrom cinti ohio
"IN NOVEMBER 2008 I PURCHASED A TRIUMPH ALL CAMO 50 CAL. WHEN I TRIED TO LOAD A SABOT, I COULD NOT GET IT DOWN. I BROKE A STARTER HANDLE TRYING TO LOAD. FINALLY MY SON GOT A LOAD IN AND I FIRED IT. I SWABBED THE BARREL AND STILL COULD NOT LOAD. I CONTACTED THOMPSON/CENTER WHO TOLD ME THAT THE BARRELS WERE MADE TO A RANGE OF SPECS AND MINE WAS PROBABLY ON THE SMALL END. I SENT THE BARREL BACK TO THEM EXPLAINING PROBLEM AND ALSO THAT I EXPECTED TO BE REIMBURSED $24.00 FOR SHIPPING. AFTER THREE WEEKS THEY SENT ME A CARD STATING THEY HAVE RECEIVED MY BARREL. LAST WEEK I GET IT BACK WITH A NEW BARREL AND NO EXPLANATION AT ALL. ALSO NO REFUND. IT WORKS GOOD NOW BUT I WILL NEVER BUY THEIR PRODUCTS AGAIN!!! HOW THEY CAN MAKE A BARREL WITH DIFFERENT SPECS IS BEYOND ME! I THOUGHT THEY ALL HAD TO BE THE SAME."

Thompson Center Tiumph ,50 Caliber Rifle,February 26, 2009
By GeoffUSMCfrom Cashiers, NC
"With the Nikon Omega scope I was able to zero this TC Triumph rifle in 3 shots, which is incredible with a black powder rifle. I then got less than a one inch group at 100 yards (less than 1 MOA), which is exceptional. I used the new Blackhorn 209 powder. I feel comfortable shooting this rifle out to 250 yards. I was then able to take out the breech plug with my fingers, which was one of the main selling features in making this purchase. It is also easy to prime and remove the primer. This is a black powder rifle you can get off that second shot very quickly. The tolerances of the rifle are tight which is probably one reason it is so accurate. I also like the weather shield and real tree finish. This is a great rifle. While I own many other rifles, I will use this one more than any other rifle hunting deer, bear and hogs. It is that impressive and fun to shoot."

Triumphiant,February 10, 2009
By DeerNuttfrom Northeast Missouri
"Very happy with this muzzelloader. The speed breech XT is an excellent way to avoid difficult cleaning situations. I purchased this gun very close to the deer season. Thanks to the ease of use, I was able to shoot it only a few times to get it accurately sighted in prior to the season and was able to take a nice deer with it on the 2nd day of the season. Thanks to Cabelas and T/C for antoher awesome product"

T/C is the best,December 31, 2008
By mrose120from Letcher KY
"The gun shoots great and is very light. I shoot 100 gr of Goex fffg with 250 g shockwave sabots. 1 inch groups at 100 yards. Gun feels great and with the limbsaver cushion I dont even feel the gun when I shoot. Highly recommend, but I would highly recommend all of T/C products!"

Awesome inline,October 22, 2008
By rschlosfrom Northeast PA
"This is a great inline, I purchased the combo kit, scope and mounts and also a starter kit. Only took a few shots to site in at 100 yds, easy 2 inch groups. The camo stock and stainless barrel look great together. I am a fan of TC blackpowder rifles and this one tops my list."

TC Triumph,October 20, 2008
By HawkeyeFan78from Iowa
"I purchased this gun based on several reviews I had read as well as having the chance to see my friends shoot various models from Knight (who I also concidered in my purchase). I cannot explain enough how easy this gun is to use and clean. Shooting is dead accurate with tight groups at 100 yards (bullets were touching on paper) and the speed breech works as advertised. Its a breeze to clean this gun at the end of the day. As with any ML its highly recommend to use swap with wet then dry patch between each shot for accuracy. I also purchased the Nikon Omega scope to take advantage of the BDC reticle. This is a great combination and recommend to anyone who is looking to purchase a new ML or purhcase their first. I could not justify the additional dollars to purchase the TC Pro Hunter or the Knight KP1, I don't have a need for barrell replacement to support Centerfire and Rimfire calibers. If you need an ML, this is a great gun."

T/C DOES IT AGAIN,August 3, 2008
By TheRiflemanfrom Somewhere in a tree
"They give you five Shockwave 250 grain sabots and thats all you need to sight in this rifle.CCI primers worked good as did 777 primers. Both Pyrodex and 777 where used, the better being the 777 out of this weapon. Two 777 50 grain pellets produced 1" to 1- 1/2" groups at a 100 yrds.Loose 777 with 120 grains produced 1/2" to 3/4" groups at a 100 yrds .For glass i chose the Nikon Omega with the BDC. The weapon was also fired during heavy rain and still performed, the plug was easy to remove as described and cleans well with water between shots. For deer hunting i will use the CCI primers and the 777 pellets for out to 250 yrds with confidence.Remember one shot one kill."

Initial experience,July 14, 2008
By oldBPshooterfrom Long time hunter, muzzleloader (30 yr). Omaha, Ne.
"Bought the TC Triumph and the Nikon Omega scope. Cabelas mounted scope, bore sighted for me. Started with Hornady 250 grain sabot and three 777 50 grain pellets as base load. Loads very easily, consistently. recoil is not significant.
Sighted in at 50 yards, used a fold-up chair and shooting sticks to replicate base hunting approach, 2 inch groups. Not bad. Note that I ran a patch down the barrell moistened with tC#13 followed by a dry patch between shots to keep the barrell somewhat clean and provide some consistency. Also, sometimes the 209 primer made for muzzleloaders by Winchester stuck in breech plug, used provided tool to pry out fairly easily.
Moved back and used identical set-up and process at 100 yards. 2 inch groups again. Now I am impressed. Next step is to bench-rest and try 200 yards and see how things go. Can you really shoot reliably, accurately, at 200 yards? My guess is it depends upon your steadyness and practice. We will see, and report back.
Cleaning: The easy-out hand twist is more advertising than truth after you have shot a dozen rounds as I did. The supplied wrench easily breaks the breach plug loose, though the mounted scope impedes the ability to turn it more than 45 degrees. Improvised and used edge of wrench, got it lose, used ram-rod to push breech plug out of the gun. Cleaned with TC # 13 in a snap. Far easier cleaning than any other of the three other BP guns I own. Overall, it loads and shoots great, and at this point is as accurate as I can be steady. Shoots tight groups at 100 yards."

GLAD I SPENT THE BIG BUCKS,July 3, 2008
By Juniortoolsfrom NEW MEXICO
"I READ EVERY REVIEW, I RESEARCHED FOR FOUR MONTHS, AND I MADE ONE OF THE BEST PURCHASES I'VE MADE IN A LONG TIME. I MOUNTED THE BDC-250 CAMO SCOPE AND IT LOOKS SHARP. THIS LAST WEEKEND I GOT MY CHANCE TO SHOOT IT AND WITHIN TWELVE SHOTS I HAD A PATTERN OF THREE WITHIN AN INCH OF DEAD ON AT 100 YARDS. NOW IT'S TIME TO TUNE FOR MORE. VERY HAPPY WITH THE CRAFTSMANSHIP, THE LOOKS, AND THE ACCURACY. IT'S A GOOD THING I GOT DRAWN FOR HIGH DEMAND BULL ELK IN NEW MEXICO. HAPPY HUNTING."

EXCELLENT SMOKE POLE,April 21, 2008
By KOLL88from NEW JERSEY
"I DID A LOT OF LOOKING ON LINE RESEARCHING DIFFERENT MUZZULOADERS . I LEARNED ALOT STILL HAD TROUBLE DECIDING ? I WENT WITH THE TRIUMPH AND I'M NEVER LOOKING BACK THIS GUN IS SWEET SHOOTS AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS . LOVE THE SPEED BREACH . RECOIL IS MINIMUM WITH 100 T7 HAVE NOT USED 150 DO NOT THINK YOU WILL NEED IT IN THE WOODS I HUNT HERE IN NEW JERSEY. I DID HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE GUN BREAKING OPEN AFTER I FIRED IT. THE FIRING PIN WOULD STICK INTO THE 209 PRIMER . FRUSTRATED I CALLED THOMPSON THEY SAID IT WAS DEFECTIVE, THAY SENT ME A NEW FIRING PIN ASSEMBLY I NOTICED THAT THE ONE SILVER WASHER LOOKING PART THAT THE PRIMER SITS UP AGAINST WAS NOTICEABLY LONGER THAN THE FIRST ONE. IT WORK'S GREAT NOW ! I STILL GAVE IT 5 STARS BECAUSE THOMPSON CORRECTED IT FAST. EXCELLENT RIFLE . HAPPY HUNTING"

Thompson/Center Triumph,April 7, 2008
By Rhonderosafrom Denmark, Maine (A working man who loves his guns)
"This without doubt the most advanced muzzleloader available. This rifle looks great with the realtree finish and I must say it was perfect. The weather shield is something else. It not only looks great it is so superior in wet weather. The action, sights, acuracy I can go on and on. This is the last muzzleloader I will ever buy, period."

Thompson/Center Triumph Weather Shield? .50 Calibe,December 18, 2007
By Bowhunt4funfrom MI
"ingenious gun...simple and ideal. I put the Knight MK-85 to rest after owning this gun. My brother, his son, and myself all bought this gun and very impressed so far. The breech plug design is great, comes out of the breech with ease every time. All of us are shooting 150g of T7 250g Hornady SST's, and T7 primers. 1" grouping from a cheap rest at 100 yards and 2" groupings at 150 yards. We all bought the Omega Nikon scope and the BDC has been dead on. This is the best muzzle loader on the market for the money in my opinion."

T/C Triumph, Love It!,December 16, 2007
By NDTerminatiorfrom Devils Lake ND
"After having Lasik I could no longer clearly see the rear sight on my LH Cabelas Hawken, so I traded it in on a T/C Triumph in Realtree with the Weather Shield finish, on which I mounted a ND legal 1X scope.
This T/C is great. Simple, lightweight, accurate, super easy to clean & maintain. The finger removable breech plug is worth it's weight in gold.
Out of the box the trigger is a crisp 3.5lbs. Unreal...
Combined with Triple 7 powder and saboted bullets, this is rifle a muzzle loading dream come true. Due to the limitations inherent in a 1X scope my max ethical range on deer is 75 yards, but if I could put on one of my Burris, Sightron, or Nikon variables with a 9X-12X top end, I have absolutely no question I could easily and ethically take deer at 150-200 yards.
I wholeheartedly recommend the Triumph if you are looking to upgrade or to begin muzzle loading..."
