  • Break-open design for easier access
  • Speed Breech XT plug can be removed by hand
  • Quick-Load Accurizer Muzzle System for easy loading
  • Weather Shield barrel and a black composite stock
  • There's a good reason why Thompson/Center is considered one of the leading modern manufacturers of black-powder guns – their product offerings just keep getting better with each new gun. The Triumph .50 cal. is no different and definitely lives up to its namesake. The Triumph ushers in a new era of innovation as the first-ever, non-FFL break-open gun from T/C. This new magnum muzzleloader is destined to be the center of attention for black-powder enthusiasts due to its toggle-lock action that allows you to break the gun open and get tip-up access to the barrel. The lever-action design works the same as the Omega, where you pull the trigger guard lever down. But, with only four moving parts on this gun, there's no need to remove the trigger group, bolt or barrel – the barrel and stock break open like your favorite shotgun. This new break-open design provides easier access to the breech area for priming and cleaning, as well as access to the 209 primer. To make things even easier, T/C created the Speed Breech XT™ – the first breech plug that can be removed by hand simply by turning the breech 90°. Once the breech plug is removed, just run the solid-aluminum ram rod with a cleaning patch through the barrel to clean it. A series of locking lugs on the breech plug prevent it from seizing. Three gas compression rings on the face of the breech plug eliminate 95% of the corrosive fouling. The trigger sets with an automatic hammer-block safety and comes factory set at 3 to 3-1/2 lbs. An alloy receiver anchors the new design, reduces the weight and balances the rifle for smooth handling. The SIMS Limbsaver™ recoil pad reduces felt recoil. The Triumph is engineered to handle 150-grain charges. The 28" barrel has a 1-in-28" rate of twist that stabilizes sabots for incredible accuracy. The barrel is also equipped with a Quick-Load Accurizer Muzzle System for quick, simple loading. With its 28" barrel, the Triumph burns magnum charges with maximum efficiency to produce higher velocities than standard-length barrels. Truglo® fiber-optic inserts in adjustable, metal sights. The Triumph also features T/C's Weather Shield™ advanced metal coating for corrosion protection and durability with a black composite stock. .50 caliber only.

Hard to use triumph and poor T/C customer service, November 5, 2009
    By TimberStomp from Fairmount,In

"Hi, I got a triumph about 2 months ago and immediately noticed that i could not get bullets to go down my barrel. I was having to use abnormal force and was bowing my ramrod. I also broke my friends T-handle he lent me. My barrel is underbored and out of tolerance. I sent it to T/C and they sent it back with a undersized sabot to work with their mistake. They should have gave me a correct barrel but there just isnt any pride in the American made products anymore. Im trying to get them to refund my gun in full but i think they are trying to avoid me. The gun I bought is a lemon and miht make a good boat ore. Im very unhappy with it and the cusomer service of T/C. Im not saying all Triumphs are all bad but mine was, and T/C hasnt done anything to make it right for me yet. Im dead certain they wouldnt have done that with Michael Waddels gun if it were his. Just in case you want to know all the bullets i couldnt get to work in my Triumph worked in my Traditions lightning, friends T/C Encore and 2 Knight rifles, Cousins T/C Omega and they all worked fine.

They Omega and the Encore would have similar tolerances in the barrel as should the Triumph being all T/C products and are supposedly to have comparable performance.

    Mine was a lemon

    POOR ERGONOMICS, September 7, 2009
By BIGKNEE from Cedar Rapids, IOWA

"The palm swell on the pistol grip flares out ackwardly twards the heel of the hand, this causes a slight pronation of the hand which inturn rotates the trigger finger in a fashion that makes a smooth trigger pull a challenge. This is one of the several problems with this muzzleloader that makes it difficult to acknowledge what was previously percieved as a steller reputation for TC making fine firearms. I would love to assist TC in the process of making of a more ergonomically correct, economically viable, In-line break action muzzle loader specifically designed for a larger man.

I stand @ an long 6'5" and shouldering this muzzleloader presents several problems- The hand position on the pistol grip, in conjunction with the trigger angle will make it extremely toughf to get a gloved finger in the trigger gaurd with out touching the trigger.

2 stars for a quality built product-

Mine is mounted with a Omega from Nikon... Decent scope-- If you plan on shooting distances over 100 get a POWERFUL scope- 3 pellets and a 250 grain sabot don't kick nearly as hard as my 870 with a 1 oz slug. I could shoot it all day and the extra eye relief the omega offers isn't needed as this gun is so small controlling the recoil is no problem. I shoot it prone 15 times a day no problem. Get a high power scope if u decide to purchase this ML. thank you

Barrel would not break open, February 8, 2009
By Kindairish from Chagrin Falls, OH

"My son talked me into getting a muzzleloader. Chose the TC Triumph with “Weather Shield” because of the remarkably simple design. First time it was fired the barrel would not break open. A recess around the firing pin allowed the primer to be pushed back and catch on the lip of the recess preventing the barrel from breaking open. This made it necessary to use the firing pin to push the primer forward each time it was fired so the barrel would open. I emailed and called TC many times over a two week, period leaving messages but never got a reply. However, when someone finally answered, TC arranged to have the rifle picked up and I received a new replacement Triumph a little over three weeks later.
The first Triumph had an average trigger pull of 3 lb. 10 oz. and the replacement has a pull of 3 lb. 12 oz. both over the 3 to 3.5 lb. pull that they advertise. The trigger does, however, have no creep breaking very crisp! With a Nikon Omega BDC scope mounted, the 100 yd three shot groups using two 777 pellets behind TC 250 gr. shock wave sabots were 2 to 2.5 inches on a cold and windy day.
In spite of the frustration getting a new firearm that is defective and not getting any response from TC for over two weeks, I would still buy a Triumph again. TC certainly did back up their warranty!

    A Fine Muzzleloader!!!!!, January 1, 2009
    By kyhunt from Kentucky

"First off this our first muzzleloader. My wife and I couldn't be happier with it. In fact we are going to buy another one so we can each have one. It shoots straight, is very easy to clean, and the breech plug really can be removed with your fingers. We bought the combo with the scope and rings. There certainly are better scopes out there but for the price it is tough to beat. We each shot it once during hunting season and we each shot a deer. I probably shot it 50 times at the range before hunting season, mostly because it's fun to shoot."

    single shot, December 10, 2008
    By Billyinneb from Nebraska

"I bought a new Triumph, shot it once.
tried to load another round and could not seat the bullet.
called T/C they said I needed to swab the barrel between shots. must be why they needed to make the "speed breech" plug. sorry but if a follow up shot is needed I really dont feel like swabbing the barrel.

I'm Glad I didnt sell my Remington 700 ML takes a little more time to clean it but I dont have to do that in the field either.

As far as all the reviews stating these tight groups at 100, 200 yds. The Remington can easily do the same, right out of the box.

If you are gonna target shoot with it , its a wonderful gun,
but when you need that 2nd shoot asap the Triumph has little to be desired.

I would not recommend it to a hunter but maybe to a bench shooter.

    Good Muzzleloader, October 20, 2008
    By 555Deer

"I bought this muzzleloader, cleaned it, then went and shot. Out of the box it was accurate and the recoil was greatly reduced by the recoil pad. I attatched a Bushnell 3-9 x 40 scope and is and inch high at 150 yrds. I am very pleased with the durability and looks of gun. The breech plug comes extremely easy after a little practice."

    Excellent gun, October 14, 2008
    By LODOJOJO from Pennsylvania, PA

"My first in-line weapon. I put on a Tasco World Class 3 X 9 scope and had it bore sighted.

Using 100 grains of Tripe 7 pellets and 250 grain TC Shockwave sabots.

First two shots at 25 yards were dead center, both holes touching each other. Went to 50 yards and expected to be 2 inches high. Both shots were dead center 2 inches high and touching. Went to 100 yards and both shots were within a 1/2 of each other.

I cleaned the barrel the same way after every shot.

I could not believe how well this gun shot. There is truth to the comments that each gun shoots differently. There was another guy on the range with a Triumph and after talking to him, he went through a lot of different bullets to get sighted in. He was acutally using 300 grain Hornady SST;s.

    WOW, October 13, 2008
    By Smokes from Central Michigan

"I read a lot of reviews before I made my ultimate decision. Before I bought the Triumph I had the Thompson New Englander in the .54 cal and when shooting sabots I could make 9" groups at a hundred yards. When I heard of people making two hundred plus yard shots with the inline muzzle loaders I had to look into it. I am very glad I did. I decided on the Thompson Triumph because of it's good reviews and because of its ease of cleaning. I am not lazy but get agitated easily if something doesn't clean quickly. I have shot over fifty rounds from this gun and usually clean every other shot and I have had no problems removing the breach plug by hand. Now for accuracy, I am using 250gr easy glide Shockwaves with two 777 pellets and the cci shotgun primers. ***NOTE: the Winchester 777 primers didn't work in my gun so they probably won't in your Triumph if you decide to get one. I couldn't close the gun with the primers in*** I have the Nikon BDC Omega scope which is wonderful. I have been able to consistently shoot clover leafs at 100 yards when using a bench and rest. Gun cleans great right at the bench using Windex with ammonia D and a swab. This gun is hard to load but I believe that is the reason for it's accuracy."

    TC Triumph/weather shield .50 blackpowder, September 23, 2008
    By KEMIRE from Louisiana

"I am very pleases with this riffle. The breech plug comes out with minimal effort and the barrel latches securely when closed. The bullet starter barrel is a nice feature. I mounted a Bushnell 3x9x40 using the Talley one-piece Encore/Omega base and ring set (no issues with the screws being to long). It fits perfectly on the barrel of my Triumph. It all arrived from Cabela's within two weeks. No complaints yet..."

Thompson Center Triumph, August 18, 2008
    By WaaakkkMaster from Northwestern PA

"I added the Nikon 2x7 power scope and it became a true tack driver. I have been shooting wood chucks out to 150 years with 100g of triple 7 powder and 250 horn-a-day bullet.
However you must clean the gun every shot to achieve true tack driving performance.
Right out of the box I could hit a milk jug at 50 yards with open sights.
Got to love modern day muzzle loaders.

    Tough Triumph, July 25, 2008
By NoTalley4Triumph from Somewhere in the MIddle of NEW MEXICO

"I recently purchased a thompson center triumph with weathershield for an elk hunt here in NM. I must say it is a very sharp looking gun with high visibility sights and a mat finish.
I outfitted my Triumph with Talley extended rings (not recommend) screws to long, Burris 3-9 Ballistic Plex scope (recommended), using blackhorn 209 powder (recommend), and 250gr Hornady SST Low Drag sabots (recommended). I am going to write reviews for all of these items but will focus on the gun.
This gun shot very well out at 100yds grouping silver dollar size without much trouble. was also able to consistantly hit a target out to 200 yds. Loads very easy with the mentioned sabots and the QLA system.
Cleaning was a breeze and was easier than some of my centerfire rifles.
Included with the gun was a a wrench for breech plug, sample super lube, and extended jag.
I would recomend also purchasing a T handle and copper bore brush and swab.
Overall this was an excellent product and would highly recommend.

TC Triumph Tips, July 21, 2008
By KSTCBuckster from Kansas - land of the Monster Bucks!

"The TC Triumph is truly a great gun and is all that you read about. Easy to load, simple to operate, no problem to clean. If you are trying out new Sabot Bullets like Shockwave or Barnes Spit Fire or Expanders (.451-.452 cal.), I would recommend you try to load one of those bullets (with NO POWDER or PRIMER) at home before going afield or to the range. You'll instantly get an idea of how compatable your rifle is with the larger dimension bullets. I tried to load a TC Shockwave and got it stuck - big time!!! This is with swabbing the barrel between every shot, so it's about the bullet+Sabot sizing. When I got home I did what I'm suggesting here with the Barnes Spit Fire MZ, and found that even on a cleaned and "lubed up" barrel, I coudn't get the SABOT down the barrel without really getting on my TC Power Handle. Anyway, my only suggestion is work on finding the right Bullet-Sabot combination for your gun. MMP (Muzzleload Magnum Products) Sabots may be the trick - their HPH (High Performance Line) sabots are designed to work with "tight" barrels such as Thompson. Using HPH 12, HPH 24, or if things are REALLY tight, HPH 3 pedal-EZ with your Barnes Bullets, Shockwaves, etc. if you're barrel is tight may do the trick. This is my first muzzleloader, and I am 100% pleased - it just pays to do your homework boys!"

    Simplicity at it's best, December 12, 2007
    By beerhunter50cal from Wisconsin

"Received my T/C Triumph last weekend from my wife as a early christmas gift (God I love this woman)! Enough about my wife, beautifully simple rifle. Speed breech is sweet, for all those that are confused by it, righty tighty, lefty loosey. 1/4 turn and it does come out by hand. Recommend T/C o-rings and breech lube are a must. Trigger is a nice 3# pull with no creep. 100-150 pyrodex pellets with Hornaday SST 250 sabots are lights out. Thanks to the SIMS recoil pad, the Triumph hardly jumps at all. Scope and mounts systems are too numerous to name. Honestly I am still using the Tru-glo open sights with no problems, call me old fashioned. Hope this helped. If this is your first blackpowder rifle, buy a cleaning kit designed for your gun."
