Exactly What a Traveler Type Like me Needed,October 26, 2009

"Wish I'd known about Cabela's sooner... This shirt and the heavy duty safari shirt (both bought on sale) are more or less perfect for travel. I tend always to be on the warm side so this shirt's ability to fully ventilate is a huge plus. The material is comfortable to the touch. Its still too new to vouch for longevity, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. I'm 6'3" with 37 inch arms so the long long sleeved option really makes a difference. The pockets are well placed and secure. Just coming back from Ukraine I was able to carry everything I needed for me and my 8 year old son without worry: earplugs, mask, passports, tickets, glasses, notebook, pens, etc. It looks a bit odd, but I wear the safari shirt over this shirt like a light jacket which works great for things like hand cleaner, kleenex, and stuff I need to get to in a hurry. I wish they made a mini version of this for my son."

"I had a couple of the previous versions of this shirt and loved them except for the unnecessary epaulets. Cabelas got this one dead on! The side ventilation actually works, love the new sleeve and collar attatchments. A real well- thought -out fishing shirt. I have multiple colors and wear them for casual also. The only thing I would change is the silly rubber oval label on the back; dosn't need to be there."

"It is interesting to read the reviews: They are easily divided into those who buy "a" shirt and wear it casually....and someone that works in this type of clothes everyday ...
The new shirt is still the only game in town for anyone that needs a size over 2X.
However, it is : 1) Undersized by one complete size 2) Tails are so short you can't keep them in (sleeves too) 3)Material wrinkles badly 4)cord fasteners are pulling off 5) very "unkept" appearance
The pants are worse folks....when I look at a new product review....I learn more from what people don't like than from the "great shirt" crew.
Cabelas folks....please field test a little more before you sell out to a big change."

"This is a nice product, well detailed and styled but the selection of available colors and sizes is terrible. People inclined to buy this sort of shirt want natural, muted colors, kaki, tan, etc. but these colors are only available in some sizes and at odd times. Cabels, are you listening? My Favorite Sun Shirt,August 24, 2009

"This is the best, reasonably-priced sun shirt I have found with the features it has which include zippered pockets and air vents.
It is best for days when it is not terribly hot and humid as it makes the wearer feel hot especially while working.
On the earlier model of this shirt, I found that the zipper pulls broke off too easily and since this shirt appears to have the same pulls, this could happen on this version. The back of the collar does not stand up well; perhaps if it were made of stiffer material or double thickness it would do so. I'm happy to see that the button-down collars have given way to velcro.
I have several bought when they are on sale and wear them often when I am outdoors as I have had skin cancer. The lighter colors on the earlier model did stain under extreme conditions such as working in dirt and using sun screen.
The ultimate sun shirt for me would be one which is at least UPF 40, wicking, sturdy, comfortable, stain repellant, chemical free, and long lasting. As these shirts evolve, I'm sure some of these wishes will be incorporated."

"Awesome product- great to have a shirt that is so all around. I have used it when it was really hot and really cool. It helped in both extremes- to keep the sun off and yet feel like you had your shirt off- and then when it cools down, keeps you warmer than a short sleeve! Love the features, although I have not used them all yet, and may not. I have used it float tubing, wading and on a boat.

"I have about a dozen of these shirts, purchased over the past few years. Every year the shirts have some modifications over the previous model. Some good, some not so good. This year they have increased the UPF rating from 25 to 40. Who certifies the UPF rating anyway? The large easily manipulated buttons have been replaced with small dress shirt-sized buttons. The button-down collar has been replaced with small velcro tabs under the collar points. The shoulder epaulets have been eliminated. The buttons used to keep the sleeves rolled were replaced with a velcro/loop combination. The cost cutting measures are beginning to effect the quality of the merchandise. Still a good shirt, but no longer a great shirt."
